Brandon LaFell

In LaFell I trust. He will get his act together when it matters in the playoffs. He is a scary proposition for a defense as the third of fourth option. No one really thought he could be a true #1 receiver and beat double coverage. His drops have been disappointing, no doubt. He will be more valuable in the playoffs because he is a big, physical guy that doesn't get jammed and beaten up.

LaFell is a possession WR who excels at slants and come-back routes he's not or never was a vertical threat...someone should tell McDaniels and Brady.

The drops I can live with, somewhat. Giving up and routes and hanging Brady out to dry on deep INTs, I can't. More importantly, Brady isn't forgiving of that stuff at all, either. He'll keep getting targeted because Martin's worse than he is, but they're both pretty bad at the moment and Edelman and Gronk can't get healthy soon enough.

Yeah we know that but is catching the football and not rounding off your routes too much to ask?? Keshawn Martin could have had a much better game had he hung on to a couple...that's not saying much about LaFell who already spent a year in the system,. I like Martins upside in our Offene.

I will give Martin a pass more so than LaFell who is a creature of habit when it comes on to dropping the football. That was is mo at LSU and Carolina.

I agree...Martin looks great so far. Reminds me of some very solid, if unspectacular, options like David Givens, Jabar Gaffney and Doug Gabriel. Sure handed and runs good routes, even if he lacks great size or speed.

Martin's route running is good but he had several bad drops yesterday.

Lafell has arguably been the worst starting WR in the NFL this season.
Nelson Agholor. 9 games, 8 starts, 18.1 yards per game.

Argument over.

I think it's more likely on that play he ran the wrong route rather than gave up. Still bad, but not as bad as giving up.

Brandon LaFell was targeted 9 times yesterday. He leads the NFL in most targets (56) without a touchdown.

Lafell has arguably been the worst starting WR in the NFL this season. He's averaging about 3.6 receptions 52 yards 0 TDs a game.

People are saying he's a fine #2 WR, but he's been one of, if the worst #2 in the league. He can't even get #2 WR numbers as a #1.

I just think it's a storyline worth following even when Gronk/Edelman return. BB did bench Lafell for Dobson in the Bills game before Dobson got hurt.

Sadly, there is noone at all to push Lafell for a starting spot.
If you do 3.6 catches and 52 yards over 16 games he would have 57 catches for 832 yards. It's not as bad as you think it is.

Consider this - the only WRs on the roster who has had more than 700 receiving yards in an NFL season are Edelman and LaFell.

Last year appears to be the anomaly in LaFell's career. Since his days at LSU, he's been extremely frustrating to watch because of issues with his hands. He's fine for a third or fourth option, which is what he is when Gronk, Edelman, and Amendola are healthy (or Lewis, when he was healthy), but not really a guy you want as your number 1 with a still-recovering Amendola. He's also not a deep threat, and they have really missed Dobson the last couple games, who could stretch the defense and make catches downfield.

Not sure why everyone is dumping on Lafell. This loss is not on him alone. This was a total failure by all 3 parts of the team, especially the special teams. The coaching staff also made mistakes. The Pats played like **** and deserved to lose, period. Trying to find a scapegoat is nonsense.

I agree, I wasn't blaming Lafell for the loss, I'm more just disappointed with his performance thus far and all his dropped balls

The entire team collapsed, including Brady making at least 1 huge mistake that was a pick 6.. the other pick I'm not sure if that was on Brady or the receiver running the wrong/a bad route

With all these injuries though, Lafell needs to step it up and stop dropping very catchable balls

ButterFingers LaFell has been a huge disappointment this year. We need to look for an outside option this off season. He's inconsistent and can't be trusted. Quitting on that deep bomb is inexcusable.

Alshon Jeffrey is a FA next year, but will most likely command huge money. Michael Crabtree is going to be a FA and could be affordable.. after them, it's a lot of middle of the road guys that are just lIke LaFell (Like Muhammad Sanu, James Jones, Travis Benjamin

wasnt this guy *****ing about bb's film sessions?
i hope the hoodie demolishes him..
No. He wasn't *****ing about the film sessions. What he said what that BB only shows them the other teams good plays.. Which is as it should be. No sense in looking at the plays the other team screws up.

I don't have a problem with LaFell at all. He's shown himself to be a solid contributor and was a huge part of a SB winner. This is what amounts to the final preseason game (i think) for him, so I'm willing to cut him some slack. LaFell is not the reason this team has lost 2 on the trot....

Lafell was brought in to the same role that ochocinco had in 2011. He is an outside receiver that only has to win one-on-ones with #3 corners. Last year he was tremendous in that role, but after his early injury, and then the totality if injuries to the team, his role has shifted up.

What we are seeing now is what Carolina complained so much about. He has all the tools, but lack of concentration and drops killed his production.

I think we can get to the playoffs without anymore injuries, and he can return to a simpler defensive matchup, he will hopefully be fine. Expecting him to lead any receiving core is foolhardy, but it's the current situation we sit in.

Really! How many passes have it this clown in the hands and he doesn't make the catch!! FYI Receivers are suppose to catch the dam ball!!! We are 13 games in you better have a rhythm by now!!!

You clearlly missed the fact that LaFell was injured to start the season.. His first game back, he had the 6 drops. But since then, he's been money except for yesterday. And yesterday wasn't nearly as bad for him as people are making it out to be..

This year especially he is Brandon LaFAIL.....is he even better than Keyshawn Martin right now?! The guy has cement hands and is a sloppy player.......he drops nearly EVERYTHING ....he has been average at best his whole career....he'll be gone after this year or sooner

You have developed this penchant for over-reaction. Claiming that LaFell drops nearly everything is such complete and utter BS it's disgusting.

People like yourself claiming that Lafell has been "average at best" forget that, prior to New England, he had Cam Newton throwing to him and was 3rd option in their offense behind Steve Smith and Greg Olsen and more often than not, Newton would never get to a 3rd read because he'd take off running.
