Deus, there was a thread some weeks ago that discussed how much of the Patriots success was due to TB vs. BB. You stated that the overwhelming reason for the Patriots success has been the stratospheric excellence of TB. I agree, with the caveat that one never knows if TB would have achieved the same level of success and excellence without the outstanding coaching he has received in NE and the strong personnel skills of BB (fielding consistent winners despite drafting near the end of each round).
I figured that the career of TB in an "average" organization would have been similar to that of Peyton with the Colts (1 ring instead of 4, 2 Super Bowl appearances instead of 6, etc.), because of inferior coaching and an inferior front office. I considered the Colts organization during the Manning years as "average", but they still enjoyed more than average success because of having an excellent QB in Manning.
Unfortunately, I am beginning to wonder if Luck might be an example of what happens to a very gifted quarterback when, instead of ending up in an "average" organization, they end up in a really crappy organization (e.g., a scumbag owner, a horrible GM that undermines the coach and makes poor personnel decisions, etc., etc.). Luck has seemed like the most gifted QB to come out in years, and unfortunately he ends up in that organizational cesspool in Indy.
I also wish him a speedy recovery, and moreover I hope he can eventually get to a decent organization that deserves him.
