Pats Claim CB Rashaan Melvin

Here's what Harbaugh said about his release:

Harbaugh said Melvin, who started the final two games of the 2014 regular season and two playoff games before a hamstring injury and a benching in Week 3 dropped him out of favor, simply wasn’t ready fast enough for the team’s liking.

“I really like Rashaan,” Harbaugh said. “I think he’s a good person and a hard-working guy and talented guy who’s got a great future. It just wasn’t happening quick enough. You’ve got to get out there and you’ve got to play. He will. He’s a hard worker.”

Looks like he wants to get some more of Gronk's anus?

Sounds like a move more for special teams than it is for the defense.

Patriots must like him
We tried out a number of defensivebacks yet chose to sign Melvin.
You can never have enough d backs on the team.
The Solder injury is huge but based on Bradys quick release and the offensive line rotating as much as it does.
Throw in the fact that our offense can sheme to cover up weaknesses, This wont be a big of a deal as it would be on other rosters.

Meh, I'm hoping he's just someone who'll be on the practice squad. Anyways, as always, Miguel is quick to add useful info on cap space

Silver lining: Our coaches know his weakness and can get started immediately!
That really is 1/2 the battle. Knowing what they suck at accelerates improvement and minimizes exposure to bad situations.
