Article: Pats Make Opponents Paranoid Schizophrenics Even Before They Play

Unfortunately, psychiatry uses odd terminology -- paranoid schizophrenics, as a group, are not necessarily generally paranoid.

That said, I am not a shrink nor even educated in psychiatry, so I'll leave the details to other folks.

As much as I agree with the premise of this thread, to label anyone "Paranoid Schizophrenic", severely begs this issue and denigrates those folks with that disease...

To say you "psyche out someone" is much different that labeling them with a psychiatric diagnosis.. we know the Pats get free rent in the brains in many NFL teams...

No it doesn't.

An Architect that worked on the Gillette Stadium design told me that a consultant had proposed to install an electromagnetic grid under the turf. The idea was that when powered in certain portions of the field, the EM field would interfere with any player that wore grills. BB of course thought the idea was stupid and scrapped it.

The Pats do not get free rent in the brains of many NFL Teams???
No. I was talking about your assertion that labeling teams that hear and see things that aren't there when playing the Pats "paranoid schizophrenics" denigrates those with the disease.

Yeah, psych terminology is pretty strange. My GF is a therapist, and watching her try to explain Borderline Personality Disorder is somewhat amusing.

GF: "He has Borderline Personality Disorder"
Them: "Borderline on what, though?"

I meant no offense.
