Portis comes across as a total jerk. There are reasons why dogfighting is a crime - get a clue Portis. Perhaps try to understand a bit more about life, responsibility, and social issues. As for his guffawing buddy Samuals, I don't think the guy has a brain - what a follower, and a dumb one at that.

Very relevant examples, since those behaviors were not always taken seriously as crimes. Not so long ago you could have inserted wife or kid into the Portis quote:

"I don't know if he was hitting his wife or not, but it's his property, it's his wife...If that's what he wants to do, do it. I think people should mind their business."

Public sentiment has converged on the belief that torturing animals is wrong. Portis disagrees. It is his right to disagree. Heck, it's his right to go and campaign on Capitol Hill in favor of animal torture. But it is everybody else's right to think him a total schmuck.

If I had a 100 million dollar contract I would help out family, maybe set them up in a home. Where there is smoke there is fire, still I see no proof to link Vick to dogfighting. I will wait and see on this one. Anyone ever been to a dog fight, they cant be all that bad if they are so popular.

I was just asking, I have heard it is a fight to the death, but then I see these pictures of dogs that have been in dog fights and there at least alive. Messy business, Some dogs live to hunt some to track or sniff out drugs, some are born fighters, dogs fight in the wild, dogs do what dogs do. Every dog I have ever had has been in a dog fight at sometime, almost always alot of barking, growling, couple of bites then one dog backs down and it is over. Just saying.

Dog fights in the wild would be pretty much natural instinct. Dogs that are starved, shot up with drugs, beaten on to be made "mean", all to be put into a ring to fight one another as some form of "entertainment" for humans??? Not even close.

Say what you will about PETA, (and my first line), but I'd pay $49.95 to see Vick, Portis, and the ilk in a "fight" against those same dogs. Bring only what you were born with.

I'd like to see Vick, Samuels, and that idiot Portis fighting those 70 dogs they caught on Vick's property.

I'd like to see him use his moves against those dogs

I would like to state that I am 100% opposed to organized dog fights, and dog fighting in any form for that matter. I am a life long dog owner, and I have loved all my dogs.

I am however curious how the whole dog fighting thing works, do the dogs always get mutilaed or killed, would the people who attend these fights be otherwise considered normal?

Mankind has bred the dogs for this sole purpose.
In fact we even bred the natural instinct for the dog to understand submission from other dogs. So that they never stop fighting.
It's not that dogs are born to do anything.
They are born and bred by us for our purposes.

I've seen dog fights, and yes they are all that bad. Both pitbulls go for eachother's throats, and they bite the sh*t out of eachother. if one dog gets a good bite in on the others throat he will kill him, and sometimes these fights end with one of the dogs dead and the other severily wounded. The owners will then either shoot him or just let him try and heal from his wounds/die. They don't usually take the dogs to a vet because they are afraid of getting busted. It's disgusting.

I've done a lot of research on the bully breeds and the history of dog fighting being the owner of a pit bull. Let me say that I love my dog and would sooner fight the owner of the opposing dog than to have my dog fight any other.

The dogs will fight to the death if allowed to.
In fact, a dog that is within a heart beat of death that never quits attacking is looked at with respect and adoration. The dogs do this solely for the love of their owners.

These dogs love their owners so much which is why they fight.
they have insitcts which makes them almost immune to pain and they fight to death.

Think... the Roman coloseum expect with dogs.

After a dog loses a fight and it's owner allows it to be killed (fight to the death) the dog is picked up with a meat hook and tossed into a barrel with other dead dogs to be disposed of later.

That is very interesting, I figured they were bred to fight and did it as part of there breeding, as a Pointing dog points naturaly, for love of there masters, wild.
