Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

i hope Seau destroys Rivers on a pass thats picked off by Hobbs who runs straight toward Rivers but out of nowhere comes Seau with a vicious block that sends Rivers flying and Hobbs high steps into endzone.

Rivers gets hurt and gets picked off by the sorriest CB in the league all at the same time.

Hobbs cant be THE sorriest in the league. Someone on KC or Cincinatti had to be worse last season

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

Glad to see Seau coming back, great talent, great leader.. another guy in the middle, less wear and tear on Bruschi.. our MLB situation just got a lot better.

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

I think some people are missing something. The "sorriest CB in the league" is what Phillip Rivers called Ellis Hobbs directly after the Patriots vs Chargers '06 playoff game. It would be pretty funny if Hobbs was to pick Rivers off considering those comments.

I hate to see anyone get hurt.

Great news!

Unsurprising -- but still great.

We now have five proven LBs, but their average durability is questionable. Who will the 6th guy in the rotation be? Matt Chatham quality could suffice. Ditto specialist/role player ala later Ted Johnson.

Lua might just work.

Am I the only one who remembers the gumbi-like deflection Hobbs had in that game that would have been a TD if it werent for Hobbs?? In fact there were a more than normal amount of passes defensed in that game by Hobbs...is there any way to check that out??

Maybe if Rivers was more of a man he would have looked to the other side of the field and tried to beat samuel!

My hatred for the Chargers is getting up to Jets and Colts status

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

Yes, you can. At least. But see post 15....

Yeah, I had forgotten that Rivers has made an arse of himself by calling Hobbs that.

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

Are you guys sure that was Rivers?

I thought my recollection was it was La. T. who said that because he was so p.oed about him dancing on the field/emblem.

True. Hobbs had a game changing play. Every time I see it, well is a thing of beauty.

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

Great news on Seau, although he will get injured this year.

Re: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau

Let's get back to the original post. Sebman...did you actually see this on NFL Network? I don't have it, but seems someone else would have picked up on it by now.

If this indeed happens, I'll be very happy. I didn't think he'd do much when he signed here last year, but I thought he played pretty tough, so I was wrong. It'll be nice to have him in the LB rotation. This will give BB more flexibility and will allow Vrabel to play outside a little bit more, where I like him better.

LT might have said something, but I know Rivers called Hobbs the sorriest CB in the league.

Yeah, he was screeching like a little girl. It was funny. The Chargers melted down and totally lost their cool.

Yea, the NFL Network reporter said it depends on Seau's passing a physical. I'm pretty sure they would have checked it out, especially since they have Schefter on board. NFL Network could have just been going by the article that came out earlier this week, but I think they probably checked it out.

Plus, the news paper that initially reported Seau's intention to resign with NE this year also initially reported Seau's intention to join the Patriots in '06. So, I'd say they probably have some inside sources.

I'm pretty sure that the Pats will carry more than 6 linebackers. They play a 3-4.
Woot on signing Seau... although I totally was counting on this happening.

Sebman,

What's the difference between your topic and the following quote from this thread:

"A source familiar with the situation said last night that the veteran linebacker will re-sign with the New England Patriots late next week, pending a physical exam."

---

I've waded through four pages to find no confirmation. If he signed, some news source would have the info. If he hasn't signed YET due to the physical, than this is still unconfirmed and not much different than the SD version.

My first post said it depends on his passing a physical. I was just passing on the fact that NFL Network is saying this, and it's not just a rumor posted in a SD news paper.

My initial post: "NFLN: Patriots Agree to one year deal with Seau Pending a physical. - NFL Network"
