The biggest Manning ballwasher at it again

Does anyone remember that we lost Seymour, lost one of our safeties, lost Bruschi lost Colvin??? We had a freaking third string linebacker trying to cover Clark in the second half. When we had everyone on the field we dominated defensively in the first half.

And, as far as their losses. Yes, I don't care if they are peripheral players. They were ALL starters. So, to have two new corners and a new linebacker is big. Daymeion Hughes? Please. I could outrun him. let's see him cover Moss and Stallworth...

If you could outrun Hughes i would give you $1000.

That flu thing is a crock of s***, no excuses we lost because we were tired and couldnt keep our offense on the field to rest our defense. I dont care about the flu or injuires. We lost because the Colts beat us plain and simple.

The Patriots lost this game because they lost the very winable regular season game against Indy. That is what sent them cross country to the Chargers, got them tired and the flu. That regular season game was the first time I had great respect for Manning. They had nothing going the whole game but he and Harrison just killed us with long balls to the sideline over and over again.

Apparently several other corners could...and I am certain that Stallworth AND Moss could. Wow, how long have you been a Colt fan?

You said you could outrun Hughes. I'm just going to point out that if it wasnt for his speed, still at 4.6 still very fast, that he would have been a first round CB. He tackles well and covers well and was regarded as one of the best CB's in this draft going into his last season. Just because he was a third rounder and doesnt have blazing speed doesnt mean you should knock him or say that he cant cover those players. He very well could.

Agreed, that first game against the Colts during the season should have been won and no flying to Indy would have happened.

Manning was beyond perfect in that game.

When you factor in the flu, the 4 out of 5 weeks on the road, the excessive injuries and, yes, the horrendous difference in the pass interference called on us but not on them, that's the main difference. The fact that we were one completion from winning is an indictment on the Colts and their so called greatness. We let them off the hook, too bad for us.

To quote Denny Green "you want to crown them, then crown their ass". The fact that the Colts pulled one out is in the history books but has no bearing on entering this season.

No, I AM SAYING he will not be able to cover Moss and Stallworth. I could be wrong, but that is my opinion and I live in California and have watched Hughes. He will get beaten often...

Manning is a great QB, no doubt, but Indy's defense had holes last year before all their losses. Put them on top for what they did last year, thats fine, but don't be silly and think they are better than they were last year.

I hate the flu excuse and assume the players hate hearing it too. If they were that sick they wouldn't have even started the game or played. The road trip is part of the game when you lose a few games here and there during the season. they knew what they had to do and they did it up until Indy.

If you go by the one completion thing then you can just blame the entire game on Reche Caldwell since he dropped 3 or 4 balls one sure to be a Touchdown.

I'd rather sit here and compliment how this Colts team won and know their strengths versus their weaknesses rather than join a few people on this site with picks and axes and kill everyone praising the Colts.

The only way to beat your opponent is to better yourself to knowing what not only you did wrong but what they did right.

Trust me the way Belichick has been praising the Colts through the off season he knows what he will have to do better the next time and i truly believe next year we beat the Colts in Indy.

If your going to leave Hughes as a starting corner from Day 1 then the Colts deserve to be beaten. Since blazing speed is his weakness. But match him up in the slot or with guys like Welker and Watson for a couple of years and he will be very good at the nickel while developing.

I like it. All of Indy's (whose defense was a sieve last year) defensive losses are "easily replaced" and will be rendered moot once the young players get "up to snuff", and the Colts are an overall better team this year than they were last year.

New England, whose defense was #2 in points allowed last year, added the top free-agent defender, drafted a stud safety/corner, has a veteran corner coming off of a career year, as well as two starting safeties coming back from injury, and their defense is "flawed." We won't even mention the offensive additions.

Wow, that's a solid argument.

Belichick . . . knows what he will have to do better the next time and i truly believe next year we beat the Colts in Indy.
Which means you agree that the Colts shouldn't be ranked #1 :D

I'm not trying to make excuses, just making the point that the Colts likely weren't the best team last year and likely aren't now. For whatever reasons, they won last year. Good for them, sucks for us. But this is a new season and question is "which team is better now". And my answer isn't the Colts.

No kidding, I couldn't believe the some of the plays he made in that game. At least a half dozen times I was sure he was sacked or downed and from no where he completed the pass. We were in his face the entire game, in the past it was effective against him. That game he stepped up and pulled a Brady. :bricks:

No ones saying they're better than last year. They're saying they're about equal to who they were last year.

Also added minor upgrades to their offense doesn't hurt either. Gonzalez (sp?) will be an excellent slot receiver and make up for the production that they lost in Stokely.

Addai is a year older and smarter, Clark is used more effectively in his TE spot rather than the slot.

There's just a lot of argumnets you can make to say that the Colts are about par with where they were last season

Now, now those are real facts. But they are called excuses by Colts fans and some here who want to appear "objective".

I have no trouble witht the Colts being ranked #1 in his poll. They should be until they are beaten. I do think his analysis is stupid at best.

Well said!

I have to be the contrary guy here because no one else really wants to be. Hopefully you understand my real stance and i think you do.:D

Colts deserve to be #1 until after week number 1 is played.

Which team is better now is argumentative.;)

"The reality is they are a better team than they were a year ago..."

It's in the damn article.

I thought he meant posters on this board.

I can argue though their offense is better than last year. Easily.

Two things. One, Hughes isn't needed as a starter. The Colts have Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden ready to take over as starters. Both are going into their third season and should be very comfortable with the system and the move. Both have made big plays in big games, so it looks like they should be ready. Two, Hughes ran about the same time as Meriweather at his pro day. Either way, the Colts don't play a whole lot of man coverage, they play cover two and cover three, so the forty speed isn't quite as important in the Colts' defensive scheme. Being able to make plays on the ball and being a solid tackler are bigger needs. Hughes had 19 pass break ups and 8 picks last year.

He says right in the article that they are better.
