You really think they want this season to be mucked up with a rancorous lawsuit when cooler, more objective heads are already dissecting the Wells report and finding the gaping holes in it, effectively exonnerating the Patriots?

Not sure what your point is.

Unless Goodell reduces Brady's suspension to zero games and, in so doing, also exonerates him of any culpability, there is going to be "a lawsuit" filed by Brady and the NFLPA.

How "rancorous" the proceedings turn out to be and whether the lawsuit "mucks up" the season are TBD.

But, Brady and the NFLPA didn't hire Jeffrey Kessler because they planned to stop short of the full exoneration that the "gaping holes" in the Wells Report suggest are the proper outcome. They're going to court otherwise.

My comment referred to the feelings the players may or may not have about Kraft's foregoing an Appeal by the team. That is now probably irrelevant and it may indeed turn out that Kraft had a "longer play" in mind when he made his remarks in San Francisco.
