What is Tom Brady's PR strategy?

Tom did a Q&A and was called a liar already.

His words were totally twisted by Mark Brunell and others from the Q&A.

Any statement he puts out is going to require him to say it out of his mouth. For instance, Don Yee has already said that Brady absolutely denies any deflating involvement. It was absolute.

The problem with Brady talking at all is simple at this point. In one of the texts, Brady discussed PSI, 16 PSI balls, reading the refs the rules, etc. They are going to ask if he has had any such discussions in the past.

Brady is open to a lot of questioning right now. So he can't get into it because of the legal case. The fact that he already underwent 7 hours of questioning tells me that he had good answers for questions about the text after the October Jets game.

But he can't get out there in public with it.

He can only defer, and sometimes that doesn't look good to a questioner. The question is very valid.

Also what would he even say? I disagree with it? He is saying that by appealing the suspension.

No upside because Haters will discount it.

BIG downside because what ever he says will get twisted and used against him. We've seen how professional lawyers like Wells can trip themselves up by interacting off script.

The only folks wanting ANOTHER statement by Brady are the "My weenie is really small and I'm insecure and need reassurance" Patriots pink hat crowd.

Tom should shut up and let his lawyers do most of the talking. I think he is making the right call.

The interesting decision will be if he sues for defamation if has his suspension lifted. The other interesting decision will be if Goodell lifts his suspension.. Lifting the suspension will have a WTF - like why are Patriots accepting penalties for something Brady isn't being punished for/didn't do. But it gives the Commish the most safety from a legal standpoint.

I'd expect to hear from Brady if his suspension is lifted and he decides not to sue. Otherwise I don't expect him to say anything until after his lawsuit.

In retrospect the Patriots organization putting out that website was a bad idea, especially considering Kraft ****ed out at the last moment. In fact it could be argued that Kraft only signed off on that site in the first place because he knew he wasn't going to fight but wanted to have his cake and eat it too. So he tried (and failed) to placate the fans with it. It's better that Brady and the PA keep things close to the chest and then lay it all out in an official setting.

I don't agree---I think it did spell out the most glaring weaknesses in Wells, particularly involving the gauges, and that has allowed some of the more objective detractors to back off a bit. Most peope haven't really bothered to process the strength of the rebuttal, but more have moved toward the middle than would have otherwise. I think if they had waited until legal proceedings to progress, too much time would have passed for it to have the same effect. having the info out there doesn't really hurt anything, because the facts are what they are, and the league can't refute the arguments whether or not they know them.
