I'm not sure what your issue is here? I mean Gronkowski is great, Edelman is very good, but Chandler is an average NFL TE, Amendola is a subpar depth WR at best and we have question marks at RB. Buffalo is talented they just aren't talented at the most important position the QB. As for the rest, I think you are wrong to try and gripe over this because we speaking to talent (which is different than performance) the players on the Bills offensive are more talented than everyone outside of Gronkowski on are team.
I agree that Buffalo is talented, and I think they're very dangerous this year. But in terms of better roster, I guess it depends on what you're looking at.
On offense, I think you're overlooking the OL where our tackles are significantly better. Watkins/Edelman, I actually like Jules because he's tougher to cover while you can game plan for Watkins, but I understand why talent evaluators would choose Sammy. But I won't concede Woods is better than JoJo. He may have more potential, but he hasn't done it yet.
Their defense's front 7 is quite impressive, although they've spent a ton of money on it too. And they're switching to Ryan's 3-4, meaning they're starting some guy named Corbin Bryant at this point. That will probably change. They've got a lot of talent in the front 7, although I'd easily take most of our LBs over theirs. Some would argue for Mario Williams, but in the 3-4, he'll be limited as just a pass rusher. Either way, at least 2, if not 3 of our LBs are better. And our safeties are better at both spots. So I wouldn't even concede the defensive side of the roster either.
And it's interesting you bring up Chandler. I think he's actually a great example of why our roster is better from 1-53.
You're right that Chandler is an average TE. But he's also our 2nd TE. Maybe 3rd depending on how you feel about Tim Wright. The 2nd guy up for the Bills is...Chris Gragg? Their swing tackle is Kouandjio, while we've got Cannon or Fleming. Stefan Charles is their backup DT, while I'm not sure who wins the starting jobs, but our backups could potentially be Easley or Chris Jones. We've got a lot of different CBs who can be mixed and matched, as well as quality safety depth. They've got a decent starting core, but they're an injury away from disaster.
I'm sure there are differences in opinions on guys. Maybe you think Williams is better than anyone. Maybe you prefer Woods to JoJo. But the overall point is that from 1-53, their roster is not better.
Lots of teams have good starters, but when injuries hit, depth gets tested, and the shallow teams never recover. That's why some teams end up fading late. The Dolphins are another example of a team with talent, but once the injuries come, their depth gets tested and they fade. The Browns were doing great until their All Pro center Alex Mack got injured, then the OL came unglued and they couldn't rush the ball. The Bills have a lot of quality 1s, but not much after that. It's why you see some of these talented teams with little depth look like contenders for a while before dropping off.
Meanwhile, we can endure a ridiculous stretch of injuries like 2013 where we lost Mayo, Wilfork, Vollmer, and Gronk, yet still made it to the AFCCG, and we were disappointed we didn't win! If the Bills lost 4 Pro Bowl caliber starters on their roster, they would be picking 1st overall.
And that's why I would take our roster over theirs every day of the week.
