Wow, Newman? Man, I do not like that move at all, not even for the minimum
Definitely a bottom feeder. The only upside of them looking at him is I don't recall other CB even being looked at so I guess it's good that they're looking ?

They signed that Chimi Chekwa guy from Oakland. No clue how to spell his name.

You're right although I was thinking of guys who played more than the snaps of defense that would be about 2 games as a starter. He was actually a 4th or 5th round pick with good speed so perhaps he's a bit of a sleeper but I expect he's more of a ST signing than a true CB signing.

Good grief, Terrance Newman?

At least bring in Peanut Tillman if we're going the savy Vet route.

Newman had been playing very, very well for Cinci. I hate his age, but hes still getting it done.

Good veteran presence in camp to continue to help the kids. Especially when they draft a CB in Rd 1 or 2

Probably more of a Don Jones special teams guy. Outside gunner possibility

Depth...what it is
Absolutely, but i feel like Newman should be depth too and not significant snaps.

And Im just going to say this not related to either of you fine gentleman but i SUGGESTED kicking the tires of Troy Polamalu and I was hammered for it. He would be an upgrade over Newman.

Newman will be 37 when the season starts. Suck that the pats are looking at 37 year olds for help at their weakest position.

Very well? We burned him non stop this past year. He was looking like Earthwind Moreland out there

I know PFF is what it is but not watching Newman too much it's the best I can go on and they do seem to think he's been playing well :

"Given how Newman finished his last season with the Cowboys, you would’ve been right to think his career was cooked. But he’s revitalized himself in Cincinnati, posting a +8.3 grade last season and again staying in the positives this year."

Veteran depth, can't imagine he will cost too much.

Disagree. Polomalu is DONE. There is nothing left in that tank. That reminds me more of when Tedy Bruschi hung them up, he was on empty, so is Polomalu. HOF caliber player but he should have retired before last season began, now he's embarrassing himself.

They play different positions.

Patsfans: where posters complain about the Patriots potentially addressing a short term need with a player they aren't keen on.

You can't win.

If Terrance freaking Newman is their answer at CB...

I just can't imagine that it is.

Who didn't the Pats burn?

Point well taken.

So who is more "done" is what we're arguing haha
