Do we have an estimate on where the Pats are vs the cap at the moment?
How much would have to be cut in order to have the choice to accept Revis 20 mill option.

I just looked at one site and with the estimates on DMAC, it shows the Patriots $12 + million over the cap.

Here is a do it yourself cap simulator so you can make the cut's/restructures.

However, it's not as much fun because you do get to deal with the agents.

Correction - $10,066,603 under the cap is the correct number. My dead money formula did not account for the new Revis row. Ouch!

I believe, $10M UNDER presumes an estimate of the McCourty contract.
Yes, the previous tweet had an assumption of McCourty's approximate cap hit for 2015.

This is Miguel's guess based on McCourty signed.

Miguel estimated a 2015 cap hit of $5M for McCourty last night. Has that changed?

So my guess is that pats need to try to get creative (restructures?) in order to make this work....Miguel (or others), any ideas on how we can free up some cap space for Revis and others under the cap? BB always wants a few new faces come training camp, meaning we will probably sign a few "low risk/high reward" type of vet signings which wont be big hits, but will be tough to get under cap with Revis + draft picks.

Very interested how this plays out..

brady could probably free up 5m, and there's been some noise about browner today.
it wouldn't really take as much as you'd think to sign revis --- if they give him a 15m signing bonus on a 5 yr contract with a 1m 2015 salary he'd get 16m in the first year with a cap hit of 9m.
and bear inmind there's plenty of time further down the road to work with guys like mayo, or whoever, to shave a little extra room for stuff down the road.
of course, you'd like to have at least a little flexibility for actual free agency.

What it would take is Revis wanted to sign such a deal.

haha...ok, that's fair enough -- that was just an illustration.

but I think some people see these crazy big 100m suh deals and think you need like 50m in free cap to accommodate it.
whatever deal they arrive at would have to involve a bunch of cap pushed fwd

So Reiss has a breakdown of McCourty's contract (5 years etc). But the following line is somewhat strange:

Signing bonus: $15 million ($5 million deferred to March 31, 2016)

So does that mean that
A) $10 mil is spread over 5 years as of today. Then on March 31, 2016 the remaining 5 million gets spread out for the remaining 4 years. Or
B) Is it still just $15 million spread out for 5 years?

The difference would be around $1 million off this year's cap.

I keep hearing Revis is going to want 16M/year with 40M guaranteed. Even if he drops down to 15M you are stilling to need to make some hard choices.
