2015 NFL Free Agent Signings Thread

Before we villianize Devin let's wait to see what figures Patriots are even offering. JUST my opinion with no sources but, I get the feeling from what Dmac is saying that the Patriots are not trying very hard to re-sign him and it feels like what happened to Daniel Graham and Damien Woody where they really made no effort to re-sign them. Perhaps Pats don't feel like they can afford Dmac or don't think he's worth the money or feel really good about one of their other safeties. Again though, let's WAIT and SEE before we villanize Dmac (and Revis).

Im not seeing too much of that. I honestly wouldn't even make an offer to Mccourty out of respect. Go get your 10 mill aav my man.

Sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that free agent RB Frank Gore has told people he will sign with the Eagles this week.

@jwyattsports: #Titans have reached out to #Patriots safety Devin McCourty, but so have a lot of other teams. Eagles and Giants reportedly interested too

Was just posting this but the wifey was bugging me and got caught off guard lol

Entering TC with Browner, Butler, Arrington, Dennard as our main four man CBs is still a solid group.
Are they a solid group with Harmon, Chung, Ryan and Wilson as our safeties?

I presume that the front seven will be fine with Mayo returning, with the signing of a DT or two, and a healthy Easley. Obviously, Belichick can decide which of the backups are useful enough to sign at their market prices: Branch, Casillas and Ayers.

Isn't the bottom line that we should expect a significant hit on the defense with the losses of McCourty and Revis?

49ers are the reported favorites to land Torrey Smith.

That's OK I would rather have Percy, Hartline,Moore, Dobson.

Of the Denarius variety I think a chance would do him well.

McCourty checks every box for a player BB would pay. Surprised that it looks like he may not return.

1. Entering prime (28 years old in August)
2. Originally drafted by BB
3. Elite player
4. defensive leader/captain
5. Great person off the field

6. Under $6M

When was the last time that the patriots paid a safety anywhere near what his offers are likely to be from teams like PHI?

Many here criticized the team for not paying McCourty $9.5M for one year. Is a safety worth $9.5M and the loss of a pro-bowl kicker to Belichick?

IMHO, Belichick is willing to pay top corners $8-15M a year, but not top safeties.

I absolutely would be interested in Oakland's Safety who was regarded at one of the top of his position only a few years ago.
Or a trade for Vaccaro and coach him up.
Of course Devin hasn't signed anywhere yet so the point is moot.

What about drafting the combine freak Jones and move him to Safety.

So, you think that the patriots shouldn't consider signing a safety until McCourty has signed for another team. So, perhaps another team should wait a week to announce their signing of McCourty.

I never suggested any such thing.
I'm sure The Patriots will know immediately if Devin is in the cards.
I would fully expect Devin to show the Patriots that courtesy.
I'm sure BB knows already.
I'm saying that we as fans don't know so my what possible fallback plans at this point are moot.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Frank Gore's deal with the Eagles will be for three years, and include $7.5 million guaranteed across the first two.

Suh in Miami is going to be an adventure. NE had a hard enough time keeping Wake off of Brady !

Surprised at how many deals are being reported already. I guess it's a good sign that we haven't heard anything definite about McCourty yet, I'm hoping he gives the Pats a chance to match any offer.

With Maxwell and Flowers both signed the Patriots absolutely NEED to resign Revis. There is no backup plan at this point.

Ask McCourty & Revis to take a fair hometown discount, but throw in a $1 million incentive for any future SuperBowl win(s)
