Again not talking guarantees here but let's say Bill goes up to Tom and says 'pressure's off a bit, let's have some fun this year' and in this scenario it would probably be Amendola on his way out and bringing in a big time threat to mix in with Gronk, Jules and Lafell. No matter what anyone says i am 100% convinced that if you get Tom a deep ball guy that can just "go up, and get it" we would see numbers that even the stat padder up in Denver wouldn't get close to when you consider the dominance in the short and middle game the Pats O already produces. Plus it would make Tom's job a little bit easier against the likes of Seattle with a home run hitter where the drives don't have to follow the same pattern due to the lack of ability to stretch the field.

So that said, come free agency we've got Revis and Dmac (possibly Vereen?) locked up and the cap has been worked around to give us that flexibility for a wideout, who is it most likely to be? For the sake of this i'm going to leave out the FA's that aren't likely to be big impact players.

Had this strange feeling watching D. Thomas that he wanted to come to New England and Josh.

But...won't happen. Broncos will tag him if they can't come to a deal, I expect.

That's usually our guy.

I rather have a pass rusher, however I will play the game.

If we had the money, and could keep his attitude contained, Dez Bryant all day. Imagine having to cover Dez and Gronk? LOL

There's no real need to pay premium dollars for a Free Agent WR on your list (outside of Royal of course). The Patriots have Dobson in the clubhouse and the second year improvement of LaFell as well as Minitron's ongoing improvement give cause for great optimism.

I'm at ease with a unit of Edelman, LaFell, Amendola (his cap hit does need to be addressed), Dobson and a value signing (someone in the Cecil Shorts mold) or a draft pick.

I think we could squeeze lemonade out of one of those lemons.
Big fast tall guy we've all been clamoring for.

I think that this would indeed be the most likely.

I don't think that Belichick is going to spend big bucks on a WR.

Only Royal and possibly Crabtree are realistic. Don't have the cash or really the need to spend the cash on the others. Edelman, LaFell, and Dola is solid and of course Gronk. Wright might be something other than a goal line threat with some time to learn the playbook. Wouldn't mind adding one vet wide out.

Cecil Shorts anyone? I like that guy, I feel like he would be a good contributor. Not too tall though, I don't think.

Personally I like Crabtree. I see him similar to Lafell signing.

That is one that wouldn't surprise me.

Julian Edleman: 92 catches 972 yards
Jo Jo LaFell: 74 catches, 953 yards

Which one are you going to bench in favor of your big-dollar free agent signing?

I somehow can't see Belichick sitting on his boat thinking, "You know, what we really need to do is pass more next year..."

He certainly has that history (recent?) of injuries thing going for him that Belichick doesn't put a lot of emphasis on.

Isn't Crabtree greedy as hell? He'll probably take an 8million/year deal from the Raiders or something

Hope we don't waste money on any of those WRs. We have other needs.

I think if amendola doesn't restructre I can see welker coming back
