The circus surrounding Deflategate has grown to such a level that even the White House has weighed in. A day after Brady's somewhat awkward news conference, White House press secretary Josh Earnest got a jab in on the Patriots star.

TBs been in the league throwing footballs for 15 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!! and NOW they decide "Hey let's check those footballs and launch a full blown, 3 pronged, multi task force, 2 week SB consuming investigation regarding 2 psi of air, and levi fines and punishments right before the big game"

It wasn't a hit and run as far as I recall. It was more a hit a drunk person jay-walking (as far as I recall), and staying to deal with the aftermath.

Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I was thinking that if the Pats had lost to either Baltimore or Indy, we would be having a normal off-season.

After how the Pats resurrected themselves after so many people were gleefully dancing on their graves after KC, the last thing the league or the sports media wants is for the Pats to vindicate themselves with a vengeance by possibly starting another dynasty run.

This may be a proactive action by them.

If true, don't expect many flags to go our way next Sunday.

Here is a bit of info to add that I haven't heard on this board yet.

I live in Texas now and was listening to the local sports talk on the way home. DeflateGate is the big topic here just like everywhere, but they added an element I wasn't aware of.

Apparently Walt Anderson is the head ref of the Big 8 conference, and he is not highly regarded by the talk show hosts. They were saying that he definitely needs to be one of the 40 people interviewed as he could be a key.

I got the impression they weren't fans of his competence; maybe he didn't weigh the balls properly as required or committed some other faux pas.

If the NFL truly wanted to explore all options in regards to what happened, they should've hired a non-biased scientist/physics professor to see if the weather played a factor.

Agreed. It is the responsibility of the refs to insure the balls are properly inflated. The Pats could give them totally flat balls, and the refs would need to inflate them to the proper pressure. If the balls were underinflated (as it seems they were) the blame falls solely and squarely on the refs

Especially seeing that after inspection they are locked in the refs locker room until a few minutes before the game.

Ben Volin is now tweeting that someone in the NFL has confirmed that the original balls were inflated to the recommended range and used in the second half. Talk of backup balls are all BS.
So it appears the league did not really do any sting operation. I think they might have complicated the investigations as data is all corrupted hence the CSI type of **** they are now employing.
My own conjecture: 11 of the 12 were reinflated, the Colts kept the 12th ball.
If this is true, it may be that they added the air at the stadium, cold air in cold air stay in.
There will not be any pressure change. Why is this so hard for people to believe. Is the world this stupid? I am not saying this is what happen, I am saying there is another plausible explanation other than a human being actually letting the air out. That they may never find.
