This Super Bowl play still bothers me

One of the longest thrown passes I have ever seen. Almost 70 yards in field distance from outside hashmark to near the opposite sideline! Has to be at least 75 yards in actual distance...

I thought that entire final series was overplayed.

You only needed a field goal to tie it and all the plays, excluding when Brady was sacked, were long, downfield bombs to Moss.

Still can't understand why they wouldn't take a play out of the SB XXXVI playbook and throw short, quickly work the middle of the field and set up for a long field goal...

They had 29 seconds and 3 timeouts and were on their own 25 yard line.

They only had to go 40 yards to set up a game tying 52 yard field goal attempt. Definitely within the realm of possibility for Gostkowski. Hell with his leg he could hit one from 55 or 60, especially indoors.

Why not a few quick outs or even some short passes down the middle and a quick timeout? Instead they throw 3 bombs and a sack.

This will haunt me until the day I die. WHY? If I could have 5 minutes with Belichick this is the one thing I would ask him.

You people do realize that we had a ton of luck in winning the first 3 super bowls right? The tuck rule? Arguably the biggest miracle in NFL history? How about that Titans game in 03? Or the Panthers super bowl? Those games could've gone either way. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that this is the first time I've ever watched this play.

Once it hit 3rd and 20 I had to leave the room. This game hit me hard. I don't "give up" often, but this was a rare time when everything started to sink in a very negative way.

I knew that it was a deep pass to Moss, but I had never actually seen it before now.

Bill went for it on a 4th and 10 or so being at the NY 30 yard line, and Gost sent a kickoff out of bounds. I'd say they didn't trust that much in him that game.

Its cathartic for me because in 2008 when this happened I turned off the tv that night and didn't turn it back on for weeks. It was without a doubt the worst sports moment of my life. Worse than the Bears in Super Bowl 20, worse than Desmond Howard in Super Bowl 31, worst than all of the Red Sox collapses.

I am extremely grateful for the Super Bowls we have won and the success this team has experienced. We are fortunate to be fans of such a wonderful franchise who has brought us so much joy.

But any fan who went through 2007 will never forget the onslaught against us that entire season. It was us vs the world. 19-0 would have been such an FU to all the haters and naysayers. Instead we became the butt of jokes.

Some of the plays in this game were just mind boggling. Like the massive amount of holding that occurred on Tyree's catch. I just feel better knowing I'm not the only one who is still haunted by some of these things.

Sorry for bringing up that game. It sucks just as much for me. But I was only talking about this one play.

Disagree though. Point was more about Moss than anything and this one play in particular. I think there are other receivers in the NFL that attempt to catch that.
