Now, in the CG, a SIMILAR play, although MORE EGREGIOUS from the defender standpoint, and all the sudden, Pats DON'T think it's PI!

I thought it should have been a no-call then, as I'm sure most of the other fans did, as well. Man, your debating technique is horrendous.

Aqua? Is that you?

Well of course that's what you think you moron. It benefits the Pats! If he looks for the ball, they don't call it. He was beat, turned around, and had no idea WTF the ball was. Why should he benefit from getting burned?

I THOUGHT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NO-CALL IN THE PATS-MIAMI GAME, TOO.

I swear, we get some of the dumbest troll mofos imaginable.

It was underthrown, hit the defender in the small of the back. Any youtube of that one?
**** you too.

In the immortal words ofJohnMac,"answer the question, JERK!"

WTF should Hobbs benefit from getting his azz burned?? Did he play the ball?

Because "face-guarding" doesn't exist! It's not a penalty!

What you think doesn't matter, thank God.

1. QB Brady Quinn Notre Dame
2. C Ryan Kalil USC
2. OT Doug Free N. Illinois
3. (Traded to Skins)

Solid. I'm not sold on Quinn though. So if Joe Thomas fell (who knows) would the Fins take him and take Drew Stanton in the second? I know there is a bit of an issue with the left side of Miami's O-line (Alabi is a question mark at LT. Hadnot is probably better at LG than C).

RT - lock with Carey
RG - lock with Shelton
C-?
LG-?
LT-???

And yes.. I live next to Dolphins' Stadium so all I get is Dolphins football. ;)

DirecTV Sunday Ticket will be sweet. :rocker:

The Dolphins have their sights set on Brady Quinn. If he survives the first 3 picks, he will be in Miami, bank on that. But if he does get wrapped up by Cleveland, Miami will take a QB in the first day. With one of those first 3 picks they will draft one. Right now Kevin Kolb in 3rd on the QB board for the Dolphins so we'll just see how they decide who to take in that 2nd round.

The line would look like this with my draft.

LT- Competition between Free and Alabi
LG- Rex Hadnot
C- Ryan Kalil
RG- LJ Shelton
RT- Vernon Carey

Oh and you live right by Dolphin Staduium? Lucky man. ;)

Yeah I did see the AFC Championship game and I thought that no call was the correct one as it should've been in the Pats vs. Dolphins early in the year. Had that call not been made, Miami most likely wins that game so of course I was upset.

Boston Jay,

I am not sold on Brady Quinn either. Aqua will diagree with me, but I think he is not a rock solid franchise quarteback. Personally I would go after Drew Stanton in a later round like you mentioned, or later on the draft take a flyer on Tyler Palko from Pitt. He is a gamer and could be a surprise.

Wonder why Corillo (sp) use "both players were playing the ball" when explaining to the crowd why the flag at the end of the half was picked up?

Also, NOT "playing the ball" does not necessarily equate to face guarding. I guarantee you that if a similar play happens in any other contest, they will call it. The player was NOT "playing the ball". He didn't LOOK BACK. That's all he had to do, was turn his head.

The reason the Miami call was wrong, IMO, was, I THINK the defender was in the motion of looking back, but beyond that, I think the ball hit him very low on his back, quite a bit (a step or two) in front of the receiver. IE, uncatchable.

Funny though, how in this recap, they called it faceguarding:

Ever hear any official explanation from the league?

Vic: I bow to your superior intellect. I checked out what you are saying and you are absolutely correct. Face-guarding was discontinued several years ago and I completely missed it. I talked to Dean Blandino in the league office and he confirmed what you’re saying. Blandino, by the way, was in the replay booth at the Patriots-Colts game. Ellis Hobbs should not have been flagged for pass-interference. He didn’t make contact with the receiver and in no way did Hobbs impede Reggie Wayne’s ability to catch the pass. Blandino confirmed that the incorrect call was made. It advanced the ball from the Patriots’ 19-yard line to the one-yard line and was the big play in a touchdown drive that led to a two-point conversion and a tie game at 21-21. Referee Bill Carollo made no reference to face-guarding in his explanation, but CBS analyst Phil Simms did. Apparently, he, too, doesn’t know the rule no longer exists. The next time you hear a TV analyst say, “he wasn’t playing the ball,” think of the Hobbs play, then turn down the sound.

In addition, all of the interference rules in the NFL rulebook refer to contact.

I can't believe I've wasted this many keystrokes on someone as stupid as you.

It's really all right here:

http://www.nfl.com/fans/rules/passinterference

They speak of "playing the ball" and not playing the ball throughout the list.

Actions that do not constitute pass interference include but are not limited to:

(c) Contact that would normally be considered pass interference, but the pass is clearly uncatchable by the involved players. MIAMI GAME

Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include, but are not limited to:

(a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver's opportunity tomake the catch. DING DING (Hobbs on Wayne)
(e) Cutting off the path of a receiver by making contact with him WITHOUT PLAYING THE BALL. (Reggie was precluded from out stretching his arms to make the catch, because Hobbs cut off his path and WAS NOT PLAYING THE BALL)

(c) Grabbing a receiver's arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass. DING DING (Sanders on Clark in End Zone)

LOL!!!!!!

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

You're quoting VIC??? He's the laughing stock! He spoke to no one!! The COLT HATING JAG HOMER!!! Bwahahahahaahahahaha!!!

Tell me another one!!

(a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver's opportunity tomake the catch. DING DING (Hobbs on Wayne)
(e) Cutting off the path of a receiver by making contact with him WITHOUT PLAYING THE BALL. (Reggie was precluded from out stretching his arms to make the catch, because Hobbs cut off his path and WAS NOT PLAYING THE BALL)

a) There was no contact
b) Again, no contact. More importantly: do you even know what a "path" is? Look it up, get back to me, and then you may understand how Hobbs didn't cut off Wayne's path, seeing as Wayne already had his spot.

I see your problem, now. There's no way you can get a grasp of the NFL rulebook until you get a grasp of the language first.

Jeez, you're dumb.

But you keep on trying, I'll give you that. No matter how many times you're forced to change tactics, you keep on plugging. Some might call that "stubborn"; I prefer to call it "******ed".

P.S. The fact that you fight so hard that Hobbs interfered with Wayne, and just as hard that Caldwell wasn't interfered with, is truly one of the most amazingly inconsistent things I've ever heard.

Miami likely wins that game? Even if the Patirots didn't get that call they were still leading. Since when did the Fins become so great that you can just assume that they would come from behind to beat a better team in their house?

Because this is the AFC South discussion.. honestly.

When rehashing these plays, I am trying to explain it through the Officials eyes. Trying to interpret what they feel they saw. I never said I was trying to say each call that went the Colts way was correct, but it appears as though ANY call that did not benefit the Pats was a wrong call. I just don't believe that.

Obviously, the ref thought that there was enough "contact" that they flagged Hobbs. I think they did a nice job picking up the earlier flag at the end of the half.
The Caldwell one, I stated, I was surprised they did not throw the flag. I think they felt like the contact was incidental, or went both ways. In the end, Caldwell was there, waiting on the ball, and he did not come down with it. Again, this crew called the fewest number of PI's of any in the league. It tells you how they interpret the rules.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yeah, that's what you've been doing all over this forum for the last month or so. If I had the time or the inclination I could fill a large thread with all of your posts explaining things "through the officials' eyes".

I look forward to your next inevitable change of tactic. Don't keep us in suspense!
