Woody Johnson Clear Cut Tampered Re: Revis

They should make woody have to not fire his current staff. One more of this year is comedy gold.

A thought just occurred to me, and its disturbing. Didn't earlier this season, Jerry Jones literally do the exact same thing in regard to Adrian Peterson? And hasn't NOTHING been done about it. I find it hard to believe that Goodell will be able to punish Johnson even mildly if they did nothing to Jerrah.

I mean if Roger isn't anything, he's certainly consistent when he's handing out punishments.

Rex wasn't the problem there. The owner is. And their GM was.

I for one expect discipline from the League. It won't be significant, but how can you not at least fine ? Regardless - the guy is getting Casserly to call people about the job ? Before he fires Rex ? And while those people are still working elsewhere ?

Clown. Total clown. NYJ are in trouble with a guy like this as decision maker.

Not initiated by Jones (Cowboys):

Ken, you have to know that Kraft is Mr Can't We All Get Along. Look at his "Please May I Have Another" submissiveness with the over the top unprecedented punishment for SpyGate. Even acquiescing to the Comissioner's ridiculous penalties Kraft needed to insist that Herr Goodell clarify WHAT the Pats were punished for. He did not.
While I agree with your characterization of Kraft's actions, or lack thereof in regard to spygate. His inaction at the time has caused a lot anguish for Pats fans since 2007, and I believe unnecessarily. However that being said, you don't get to Kraft's level of business acumen without being tough, determined, aggressive and to a certain degree selfish and egotistical.

So while I'll always believe he deserves a black stain for his handling of spygate, until the true story comes out, I'll have to believe he simply "took one" for the perceived greater good of the NFL and remained passive all these years. It's simply all I can come up with.

It doesn't work that way. That's what being the -owner- means.

I think you're missing the big picture Sherlock. Anything that may persuade him into selling the team, Such as public punishment/humiliation due to his own stupidity should be avoided.

A good question for a reporter to ask Roger if he shows his face at a playoff game or the SB might be, is he aware of Woody's tampering comments concerning Revis?

Since he has already tried to use the dodge in the Ray Rice episode that his office never saw the tape, make sure he is well informed.

Pretty sure Woody isn't remotely self-aware enough to be bothered. I don't think there's any chance of this leading to a sale.

Sorry but who cares. Probably a fine but dont hold your breath waiting for a forfeted pick.

You are completely wrong about this. Ego is such a huge component with guys like Johnson. You have to compound this current issue with all the other turmoil and fan disfavor he has faced lately.

There better be a punishment coming PLUS something for the damage done to the New England Patriots
How about being force to watch all Jet losses since he took control of the team.

Tad bit different. Jones said in a espn article that Peterson said he wanted to play for the Cowboys before his career was over which Cowboys were suppose to alert the NFL when Peterson said it.

Johnson just did this exact same thing with DeSean Jackson 9 months ago. Which Jackson was released 4 days later which made it kind of a moot point. But if the Eagles hadn't wanted to get rid of him there may have been an issue.

The funny thing is that Woody was too stupid to know this was tampering and blurted it out to the press. Long live Woody Johnson. That team will continue to be a joke as long as he is running it.

I expect the NFL to penalize the Jets for his remarks if the Pats go ahead with the tampering charges,..but anyone who's expecting a severe penalty is probably going to be disappointed. Totally understandable that we all want to see the Jets get theirs after - well you know- but that won't happen with this.

It's not like he said "we will do whatever it takes to bring Revis back". That would be indefensible.

He's just openly tampered with Revis in his press conference, stating "he'd love to have Darrelle come back to the Jets".

Get him reported Bob.

Revis is coming into an option year. Johnson said 1.that they didn't spend enough money 2. and said he would like to have Revis back. If that is not tampering, then I don't know what is.
The Patriots have every right to be royally pissed and should file a complaint with the NFL.

This! The biggest failure of Bob Kraft's otherwise excellent tenure as owner of the NE Patriots.

If this is tampering then the NFL rules really need to be overworked because that is ridiculous.

He didn't contact Revis or his agent, he didn't make any offer to anyone but simply expressed that he would love to have a player back with his team. If he would have said that they will do everything possible to get Revis back to the Jets it would be a different story. Can we be reasonable for a change ?

Reasonable? You know we are talking about the NFL where players get bigger fines for having sox the wrong color than diving at knees after play has ceased, right?

The problem is, Woody isn't being reasonable. The owner of the Patriots biggest rival is using the media to signal a soon to be free agent Revis and his agents that he is willing to use the Jets cap space to sign him.

Woody is also doing this just as the Patriots enter the playoffs, which is sure to create questions being asked to Revis, thus creating a outside distraction by none other than the Jets owner.

I agree with the effect, but I doubt Woody plans as well as a bond villain. I believe he was just stupid and lucked into any benefit from his actions.

BTW, I favor any punishment. Prison is full of idiots.

Wasn't the SpyGate penalty as much for disobeying a league order as for the cameras?

The penalty was a 1st or the 2nd and 3rd if the pats didn't make the playoffs. Since the Jets violated the earlier order/warning, that's the biggest violation. Precedent says they lose their 2nd and 3rd.
