That's fine, we'll agree to disagree, I just think that you're selling Chung slightly short on his play in the new S2 role on early downs.

Mayo's situation could mean that Chung gets used as a LB in more sub packages. That should suit him well, as long as the coaching staff remembers his limitations.

We actually saw Tavon Wilson play a bit of LB, was Chung on the field when that was happening? Based on their reputations thats just a downright scary thought. For us, not opposing defenses.

The announcers claimed that both Chung and Wilson filled the LB role during the game. I didn't specifically look for that particular wrinkle, as I was largely focused on d-line and Dennard/Revis/Arrington, so I wouldn't want to bet the house on the accuracy of the announcers' statements.

He's done his job well. Good job by him and a good job by the coaching staff to put him in a position to succeed.

Many of us were talking about the addition of Revis leading to the ability of the Patriots to play the S2 in a limited role and limit that player's liability. In other words, we were discussing ways for the Patriots to cover for the suck of the S2.

That's what we're seeing here. This isn't a Chung resurgence. He's still the same player he was.

I would say that it is both. Not only does Revis allow more Cover 1 / Cover 3 looks, where the SS is an in-the-box safety, but Chung is doing a great job in that role. His run D is exceptional. That solo tackle on Jackson was a thing of beauty. The one time he got beat bad in coverage was a pick play, where had he done like Dennard and run into the pick, he could have gotten the call.

Between Revis making things easier on the back end and Chung's familiarity with the Pats defense, he is being put into a position to succeed. That is what good coaches do with most all of their players.
