Ray Rice suspended 2 games

Well, Goodell did tell us all today that, "I think what's important here is Ray is taking responsibility."

Link

Yes, Roger, at least he didn't come out and say she ran into his fist and deserved it. That's whats important here. They can spin this however they want, the fact is Rice knocked his fiance out, its on video, he was charged with assault and got less of a punishment than Brandon Browner did for missing a drug test for the NFL while he was playing in the CFL. Consistency, though, right, Roger?

Trying to figure out how the important thing is that someone takes responsibility for committing an act that is on film. Was Roger expecting the Evil Twin defense?

Tomax and Xamot paid their debt to society and have been working hard to be good citizens. They may never be able to repair their reputation, but there is no need to drag them into this.

Double talk. It's the norm here, in all things. Even sports.

This is vey embarrassing for the NFL & the Ravens. I expected the team to also take action but it doesn't appear to be happening. Sad.

Harbaugh could care less what these guys do off the field. He's not going to be the one to rein these A-holes in.

The NFL's judgement on personal conduct has - so far - seemed tremendously arbitrary. I know there are posters here that want to seem more intellectual than us apparent softies but if you are going to punish guys for what happens off the field, then you have to do it consistently.

Personally, I'm surprised Harbaugh hasn't knocked someone out in an elevator. Well...maybe not this Harbaugh, but the San Francisco one? Definitely surprised it hasn't happened.

Here's my prediction for how Ray Rice's year will be....

You could tell Ray Rice had no idea what he was in for when he decked his fiancee and then proceeded to marry her:

Yet this brain surgeon marries the man afterwards. Go figure.

Edit: I may be wrong, but I don't believe that a 4-game suspension for failing a pee-pee test
for weed kicks in until the 3rd offense?

It's a sad truth about abused women that they fear being alone more than they fear their abusers.

Besides, she has no claim to his money as his girlfriend. After this, if Rice lays a hand on her as his wife, pre-nup or no pre-nup, she gets it all. The physical abuse would give a decent lawyer all she needs to argue that a pre-nup was coerced, rendering it invalid. He's humiliated her so publicly, no court in the land will side with Ray Rice.

The notion that women are always "getting it all" is a fallacy. Generally speaking, they get half of what was earned during the marriage. (It's obviously not quite that simple but that's the general rule). If she signed a pre-nup and was represented by counsel, it's generally hard (borderline impossible) to claim coercion. If she wasn't represented by counsel, it would most certainly be thrown out. Of course, any lawyer representing Ray Rice would know this and not allow a document to be drafted and have her sign it without her being represented.

Physical abuse speaks to "fault" in a divorce and would indeed help her settlement. But if he hits her again and they got divorced next week, she would not just up and walk away with everything the guy has earned over his career. Your own article talks about Tyson, and his situation is very much in line with what I described above. Robin Givens got roughly half of what he made while they were married.
