Belichick just confirmed in his press conference that Gronk has been cleared to practice.

Those of you who predicted that Gronk would either miss the first few games or start the year on PUP in my prediction thread are off to bad start with your predictions. Not that it is a bad thing since you being wrong is so good for the team.

Welcome back big fella.

Sometimes a player takes the field in a red jersey which prohibits contact (e.g. QBs like TFB). Let's hear camp reports on red jersey players.

I hope one of those Rookies rise to the occasion and give Hooman a run for the Back-up spot either Asa Watson or Justin Jones.

Fantastic news. I highly doubt he'll see a snap in a preseason game but this is excellent for his availability in Week 1.

Will probably see him in week 3, but hopefully not on any special teams...

Great news. I hope he stays healthy because the depth behind him, or lack thereof, is cause for concern.

If I remember correctly, Welker did play in the preseason a bit the year after he tore his ACL. I think we will see him play a bit just to shake off the rust, but he will not play a typical starter type of preseason pitch count.

EDIT: I just looked it up and Welker was credited for one catch for 32 yards during the 2009 preseason, but I think he was on the field quite a bit more than that.

EDIT Part Deux: As Kontra pointed out later in this thread, I got the wrong preseason. Welker played three games and had 5 catches for 75 yards in the preseason after he tore his ACL which was the 2010 preseason.

I'm all for "shaking off the rust." I hope Gronk will play enough to get the inevitable new-knee jitters out of the way. (One of the biggest post-ACL risks is that players favor the injured leg, thus over-stressing the healthy one.)

FAN TASTIC

I like what Ive heard and seen from him from the offseason. Seems like he spent more time working out and getting bigger than he did on TMZ. Also he "plans" on playing the whole year is a first for him because he is acknowledging that he needs to get his act together if he wants that upcoming bonus.

Great news, I think Gronkowski is going to have a monster year – 1500+ yards and 15+ touchdowns

Any word on what Welker did in the 2010 preseason?

If he's going to be practicing now then it's hard to envision a scenario where he's not ready for Week 1.

Oops! I guess I am getting senile in my old age. He played 3 games and had 5 catches for 75 yards in the preseason after his ACL surgery in the 2010 preseason.

Ironically, it was 2009 where the Pats basically rested Welker for most of the preseason. That ended up being the season he suffers a major injury.

Some of the best news I've heard all off season let's just hope he stays healthy all season.
