Belichick revelations could soon mean the end for TFB?

Breer smells like fart

You know the reaction the employees and customers are having to the CEO of Market Basket being fired, that would seem like a pep rally compared to the reaction of this team would receive if they trade Tom Brady.

You or myself have no idea what Jimmy G will turn into. He could be a great NFL QB..he could suck. We just won't know until he steps on the field in do or die time.

He may have not been drafted thinking about Bradys replacement..but if some major injury was to happen to Brady..who knows.
It is something he will have to earn, I am not labeling him that because he was the #62 pick in the draft, heck we invested more in Tavon Wilson than we did Garopollo.

Garopollo is a backup QB, who could start and keep us in the ball game, I do not expect him to take over for Tom Brady one day.

Bill probably meant it when he said it. When he's 69 he will determine if things have changed or not. When I was around 20 I was sucking down donuts and my Dad mentioned that it might shorten my life. I said I would prefer to live 50 good years than 70 miserable ones. He said let's see how you feel at 49. Things change. I'm now 47 and weigh less than I did at 20.

he may not make it into his 70's like levy.....but i bet he coaches into his late 60's......like say 67 or 68.....levy is about to turn 89, so his health doesn't seem to have been adversely affected.....plus BB is such a football junkie.....and i bet he wants this 4th SB as much as the first......BB seems to be in great health to me, even though he could lose a few lbs

Frankly, is there really anyone here who doesn't think BB wants to win it all without Brady?

Unlike Breer, etc. I don't for a minute mean to insinuate that BB would cut Brady "too soon" just to try.

I only mean that I believe BB is egotistical enough that he would love to win it all without Brady so he can stick it in the faces of the "BB would be nothing without Brady" crowd.

So if BB feels the team is in good competitive shape when Brady retires/is ultimately cut for cause, I fully expect he's stay on a few more years. Likewise, if BB doesn't think the team is in good shape and it would take longer than he's planning to be around to fix it, then I'd expect him to head out the door with Brady.

This kind of swings around to the next issues again...do we think Brady finishes his career here? Would be a shame if he didn't..

Breer and BB must have been lovers at one time. There is no other way a person could develop such a deep level of scorn for another.

LOL somewhat!

I'm pretty sure I've heard somewhere, that when Breer was a beat reporter, he actually had a good relationship with BB. Somewhere along the way, the relationship soured and now it makes for awesome, awkward moments when Breer asks BB a question.

With that, I don't doubt the BB wanting to win one without TB, just like I wouldn't doubt Brady wanting to win one without BB. Both guys know their legacy.

What I do question is the BB looking into the Giants job years ago. That just seemed way out their.

I think BB's goal is to become #3 on the all time coaching list behind Halas and Landry... currently he is something like #6, he is one win from the all time winningest coach in post season.. and should equal that this year.

That is legendary stuff...

OK, this is what Breer actually said according to the article:

“One of the things that he’d (meaning Belichick) like to prove he can do is win a Super Bowl without having the benefit of having one of the best quarterbacks of all-time.”

Then, the author goes on to say that "assuming" this came from BB or someone close to him, we could conclude yada yada yada.

It's speculation. Breer might have had some sort of inside information, or, then again, maybe he didn't and is just trying to stir the pot to keep himself in the speculation game before Training Camp begins.

The bottom line is that none of us have any way of evaluating this "information" other than through the prism of our own preconceptions.

Option 1: Do we believe that BB really wants to win an SB without TB? Then we see it one way (but before you argue that position with certainty please point to a direct, attributable quote from Belichick from a reliable source to that effect).

Option 2: Do we believe that BB is quite pleased with his achievements to date and is confident that his place in NFL history is secure, whether or not he wins an SB without TB? Then we see it another way (but, once again, there is no direct quote, etc., that would enable us to draw that conclusion).

Personally, I lean towards Option 2 since it is more consistent with my own personal take on BB after observing him since his days with Bill Parcells, but if you lean towards Option 1, knock yourself out, I really can't dispute your perspective...any more than you can dispute mine...based on any available facts that do not require our own interpretation of the inner workings of a man whom most of us have never met and with whom virtually none of us have ever had a serious conversation even if we've met him

Because he pulled it entirely out of his ass. I think his actual phrasing was along the lines of 'It wouldn't surprise me if...'

You're right - it is speculation. And here's my option 3: BB does not care with whom he wins another SB (or many more), as long as he does it. I also think he realizes that his coaching days are nearing completion and yet he does not want to see what he has built here be changed or worse unbuilt. And I see that he likes the role that Elway and Newsom have attained. So what I see is that BB will set himself up as an Executive VP or such, promote McD to head coach, designate Lombardi as GM and upgrade Caserio to include the off field activities that he now does - and they all report to him. The fact that he brought Lombardi in and McD and Caserio declined promotions with other teams sort of supports this scenario. This way he stays in control, steps down from the day to day coaching and still wins more SBs. As I said - its all speculation but connecting the dots does lead you to this scenario.

Interesting take. Thanks.

Yup. We all know that Belichick tells all his deepest, darkest secrets to Albert Breer. (Does that need a sarcasm tag?)
