What's the move you want to see before the season starts?

As much as I fantasize about the TE production of 2011.... I think we have moved on from that, not sure why.. but they seem to have.

Really.....the dude is behind bars and they've had one off-season so far. They went D this year and are relying on Gronk. Not a terrible plan. I am sure they will find a TE2 and not totally give up on the package but it isn't a priority.

If Finely does return to Green Bay it will be interesting to see who makes that team at tight end. If Lyerla is cut would the Patriots consider bring him in now given he has appeared to be on the right side of things thus far.

I'm not sure why it would be "ludicrous" to trade a day 3 pick for a decent young player who would be an upgrade at the "move TE" position with the potential to be more. The Pats have made far more ludicrous trades in the past. I agree that trading a 2nd would be ludicrous.

Housler is a good player, he has a ton of upside, and I think he would really blossom in this offense. Whoever does not think he is worth a mid-round draft pick obviously does not know much about Housler. I would not trade a second, but a third, fourth, or fifth I would do.

You're overrating the guy quit a bit. He is fast, but not strong. He doesn't get open anything like Jordan Cameron. He's really not that good. As a pass catching TE he is a decent option, but you are making it sound like he is some star in the making while Arizona is actively trying to replace him.

As far as the strength, they are very similar, Cameron did 23 reps on the bench, and Housler did 22 reps. If you threw the same 117 targets at Housler that Cameron received last season he projects for 80 catches and 928 yards. Cameron had 80 catches and 917 yards.

I think Housler could flourish in New England, playing off the line in the Move TE position would be a great fit for his skillset. I am not saying he will return us to the 2-TE offense of 2011 but he will allow us to do some of the things we did back then at least situational.

I didn't take offense - I was just worried that I had offended others.

As for Housler, it all depends on whether Arians sees him making the team, or is like to move on. I posted a recent article on his situation above. We don't know whether the Pats have made any overtures in that direction, and we probably won't unless a trade is made. My personal opinion is that he would be an upgrade over what we have on the roster, he has a shot at flourishing in our system, and he would be a good move if the Cardinals are open to dealing him and if the price is reasonable. I tend to like that kind of move a lot more than talk of signing Jimmy Graham or trading for Andre Johnson, or signing a 30 year old Dustin Kelelr coming off of a horrendous injury. All in all, a low likelihood chance of happening, but one that I would personally pursue if someone were dumb enough to make me GM.

- I said to trade Mallett for Housler because Carson Palmer has a history of injuries and they could use a solid backup. I did not say anything about a draft pick.
- Amendola being released in March was widely discussed among the media and members of this board due to his salary becoming guaranteed on 3/11.
- I opened a thread around October that this team was one the most impressive teams I ever saw even if it lost in the first round of the playoffs because it was able to overcome so much adversity. That does not sound like a thread opened by someone who considers any season that we do not win a SB a disaster.

Belichick drafted him at that size. He wanted him to play at that weight. He did not draft him to be a coverage linebacker. Mayo got hurt, Spikes was hurt, Collins wasn't ready, so he did his best.

In case you don't know, we have Jamie Collins starting who's great at coverage. We have Mayo back. We dropped our slowest LB in Spikes. We have a ton of coverage people in the secondary and we'll be in pass coverage sets a lot. We have a coverage linebacker in James Anderson for situations too.

Maybe you know more about what type of linebackers BB should have than he does, so you should probably send him an email, or something.

Mayo isn't exactly a coverage stud either. And its not just coverage Hightower struggles at. In the Ru game he has been called out for basil carriers crossing his face like he is in quicksand. So playing at that size is a drag at anything he must perform. He isn't even a thumper in the run game either. He doesn't generate the burst for splash hits/plays. More excuses for his play than great play after 2 SEASONS. Same excuses were made for Rey maluaga his first couple seasons when he played at 260+. He was playing the wrong position,Rivers was hurt. He ran out of excuses and it was finally accepted he was to slow to be what they expected. Yeah Bill wanted Hightower to play at that we right when he thought he was much more explosive than he has shown. Expected to see Willis/Bowman packaged in Hightowers big frame. Just not the case,he hasn't played anywhere near his timed speed. He has played closer to his 3cone. BTW no matter which LB spot he plays,a lb gets caught up having to cover. Then if ball carriers cross his face consistently,what good is he. We hoped he would be explosive but he has disappointed. But then again look around how many 270+ lb standout LBs are there. They all go between230-240. We hoped we got one of those guys at his play size but he isn't in the same league as those top LBs I listed.

Mayo is legit in coverage overall, he is not a coverage LB but he is one of the better 3 down 4-3 LBs in the NFL. He will do better this season with Collins because in prior years he was always on the #1 TE or RB now he will be on the #2.

Again, BB apparently doesn't know he's supposed to draft 230 lb linebackers instead of picking them up for nothing as backups (Anderson). You really should send him an email informing him that he doesn't know the type of linebackers he should draft in his system. People have now officially gone completely insane with this off season. A first ballot HOFer like Randy Moss was gotten for a 4th rounder. A more than solid veteran like Anquain Boldin could be had for a 6th round pick. Even a proven vet like Stevie Johnson was available for a "conditional" 4th round pick

Yet the mental giants who have never seen a WR or TE who WASN'T better than anyone we have on the roster, seem more than willing to part with a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a TE who seems to have managed 3 years in the league still can't seem to master the fundamentals of basic blocking. A guy you would hope to be a key element of your GL offense yet who has managed just ONE TD in 3 years.

He's a guy SOOOOOO talented that after seeing him start for most of the last 2 years, he has been passed on the Cardinal depth cart by a solid JAG FA, a rookie who hasn't played a snap in the NFL, and a guy (Ballard) who is lucky to walking without a limp. We didn't use a 4 WR run and shoot when Gronk went down last year. I see no reason for the team to change its way of running the team. Hooman is the backup for Gronk. If Gronk goes down, we will activate a TE or sign a JAG as we did last year.
