According to the Buffalo News, the deal could happen in the next day or so.
That deal would leave the Bills pretty thin at LB.
Angelo Crowell is probably going to start at MLB, but he has never played the position before and is coming off a broken leg injury. The Bills really like him, though.
It also means one starter at OLB will be Keith Ellison, a 6th round pick last year whose performance they were pleased with last year. However, he is hardly proven.
The other LB on the roster are largely unproven and inexperienced, including coverted S Coy Wire. They have some good ST-types.
The Bills are very young and small on defense. They are playing the Tampa-2 style defense that emphasizes speed, but are very small and young on defense. Though Spikes wasn't the same player last year after coming off achilles surgery, he was their biggest and most experienced LB. They must think he won't make it back fully, although many others with that injury were better their 2nd year back.
