Amendola hung up on Adam Jones during 98.5 radio interview...

I know that...and they were laughing at and ridiculing Amendola like hyenas. They sure "got" him, huh? Maybe now they'll get all "gun ho" and run him out of town on a "grail". Imagine the amount of threads created about Amendola that would bring to the board. It'd be wonderful, huh?
"Another word that comes to mind" was not part of the replay, it was from the original. Belichick would have told him to hang up if he were listening in. Danny did the right thing. Jones is the one who should be run out of town.

If he had insinuated I was a p***y I would have hung up, hopped in my car and went over to see him face to face. THAT would be wrong. Simply hanging up was probably the best choice. Media guys have a responsibility to be respectfull as well. What Jones did was try to bait him. Danny just cut the line and put his pole away.
Did you listen to the interview? Jones was not being disrespectful at all, and Amendola showed no signs of being bother by the series of questions. Even if Adam was being disrespectful (which as I said he was not) Amendola could have spoken up and moved the interview along, that is what a real man would do in that situation he would not cowardly slam the phone down like a diva. “Adam I answered the injury questions already lets move on to the next topic” that is all it would have taken.

You should really listen to the interview brother, you clearly have this belief that Adam Jones was attacking Amendola and that was not at all the case, it was a series of questions.

Amendola did not do the right thing, he alienated himself to the entire media, portrayed himself as over emotional, and immature. Belichick would not instruct a player to hang up on a member of the media, Belichick does not coach disrespect, not to mention you seem to be overlooking that Amendola hung up on an opportunity to plug his charity, essentially hanging up on an opportunity to benefit need children. That is a weak move.

What do you think he meant by "Another word that comes to mind for you"? A real man would have come right out and said the word. As a matter of fact if he was a real man he would have said it in a face to face interveiw instead of cowardly hiding on the other end of a phone.

Seriously 6, you're wrong on this one. He was most certainly being disrespectful.

Listen to the interview. The statements about being injury prone, fragile, and unlucky were all in the first question which Amendola answered without any indication of being upset, the second question was just about his current health which Amendola again answered without any indication of being upset, on the third question all Jones said was “as we said you’ve been described as unlucky with your injury situation” that prompted Amendola to hang up.

He did not call Amendola anything he said, “you have been described”. Amendola has been described as injury prone, fragile, and unlucky for the better part of his career, Jones acknowledging that or asking Amendola directly about those descriptions is not disrespectful, what is everyone supposed pretend those things never occurred?

You didn't answer the question, and it may have taken Danny a couple seconds to absorb what he was insinuating. I think anyone with half a brain can figure out what that "other word" would be.

He said using that word or another word how would you describe your injury situation. You have an issue with Jones asking a player who was injured basically all of last season how he would describe his injury situation? It seems reasonable to me, and seeing the question about the clavicle injury was leading into asking about Amendola’s approach to the game I feel that was once again a reasonable question, that any player who has played in 24 of his last 48 regular season games should expect to have to answer.

I am not going to sit here and take issue with one of our most disappointing players in 2013 and a player who had 0 catches and 1 drop in the AFCCG having to answer a couple tough questions in an interview. I expect that Amendola, Gronkowski, Wilfork, Kelly, Mayo, and any other player who missed the majority of last season with injury is going to be asked some questions pertaining to their injury situation and their health. I would also expect those players to answer the questions like a professional and not react like a 16 year old girl fighting with her boyfriend.

What do you think he meant by "Using that word or another that comes to mind for you" after already using fragile, injury prone or unlucky? Seems obvious to me. That's exactly what he said. Jones was being unprofessional.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

As I have said I do not have a major issue with what Amendola did, my issue with the suggestion by posters that it was the best and only way to handle the situation. There was a high road that Amendola could have and should have taken here, is it a major issue that he did not, no not at all, but I am not going to sit here and give him a golden star like it was a great move.

Lemme see, do I want a player who eats a bucket of crap from a twerp radio guy or a player who essentially tells him to drop dead?

I will go with the latter.

Adam said, “You have been labeled fragile” he did not call him fragile he spoke to something he has been labeled in the past.

Holy cow.

Don't you know that is the OLDEST trick in the book for yellow journalism? "There are those who say you are a cheater, Coach Belichick..what do you say to those critics?" You think Belichick would entertain that question or the questioner for one millisecond?

I will take a player that handles adverse situations gracefully instead of running away from them.

Fair enough. I'm just throwing out that Jones should be held accountable as well. That's all. He let that charity down as much as Danny did. That's the sad underlining to the whole scenario.

I guess it would not be bad form or a personal attack if I wrote here "Brady6, you have been called a very naive and uninformed poster by some"???

Of course it would.
Shmessy he is a grown man he could have told another grown man that he was not going to answer any more questions about his injury history or health and to move the interview along, this guy plays the most violent sport in the world and he cannot speak up to Adam Jones?

Naïve is the posters who think that one of the most disappointing player on the Patriots last year who had 0 receptions in the AFCCG was not going to be asked a difficult question by an interviewer. As far as uninformed, that is laughable, I have provide more facts, and data to support my posts than anyone on this board. The only posters who ever take issue with what I post are the ones who cannot view situations objectively, anyone who could would know that a grown man hanging up on another grown man on the radio because he did not like the question being asked is immature.

Jones was wrong, no doubt about it, but Amendola was too, they both handled the situation poorly.

Agreed. The real loser in this was Catches for Kids. That's the unfortunate truth.

Anyway I am done with this discussion, all I can say is I would not teach my 4-year-old son to hang up on someone if they ask him a question he does not like, I would want him to handle the situation more maturely. If you feel otherwise that is your right. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
