2014 Draft Contact List

DE or DT is looking increasingly likely as the first pick for us this year.

Or WR, or QB..... They've looked heavily at those positions too. I have no clue at this point, other than it won't be a long snapper! :)

I was listening to an NFL Network podcast last night and two things were said that speaks to this issue. Firstly, talking about the WR class, Bucky Brooks was saying that pretty much all the first round eligible receivers, including Marqise Lee were better than Tavon Austin from last year. He, of course, went top 10. That would perhaps answer why we've been so interested in this first round receiver class - there's real value there this year. Secondly, Brooks also reported a conversation with a GM that said that this DL class was the worst he'd EVER seen. So, not a lot of value there. If they do go WR in the first round, this will be why.

The more and more I look at the DL class, it seems as if there is no "sure thing" coming out at either DT or DE this year. Many will say Aaron Donald in response but even he has question marks against the run.

That makes a whole lot of sense. At the end of the day, I don't want them forcing a 1st round pick. I want them to take the best talent available that fits their scheme, is coachable, can see significant reps in year 1 and can start year 2.

Looking at the current roster, the only position I wouldn't want is free safety -- with McCourty's presence and likelihood of being franchised / extended for 2015, with Ryan moving to free safety, and with Browner (and Revis) likely reducing the use of cover 2.

Even QB can be justified if the right guy falls and they think Brady only has a couple of good years left (and not 4).

If the WR talent at 29 would be top 10 many years, then they should go for it.

Yeah but apparently correlation doesn't equal causation and you're wrong, amirite?
Apparently so, according to the experts in that other forum. It must be mere coincidence.

Why, certainly. No reason why he should be wrong and you should be right.

This might just be my favourite contact of the bunch. Or at least one of:

@BenVolin: I'm told that #Patriots Michael Lombardi went down to campus to work out Coastal Carolina RB Lorenzo Taliaferro today

I think he's got more talent than a lot of people recognise. He's not a lead back but, like Blount, would be a tremendous complementary addition to a Ridley/Vereen RBBC.

Kenny Ladler also worked out for BB today.

Warming up to him. He can be a 3 Down back, got MUCH better hands then ppl think. He'll have a year with Ridley / Veeren to learn, then he should be ready.

He's got excellent hands, one of the best at the RB position. I actually wondered about him as a HB but then remembered he was only 6'. He looks bigger than that.

HB should be Trey Millard, but with him like others, then you have to Wonder why they havn't worked him out. Really like 10-12 ppl i beleave they have "missed" to workout.
