The Pats F.O. has been at the most odd this year, and at the least lackadaisical. FA is a time to get better, fill needs and gain depth. The idea as Bill stresses, is to "get better". I struggle to see the Patriots as much better than 2013 Cousins, with perplexing moves and non moves that almost seem like an........ "Oh Well" off season.
Well, considering that you have, continuously, shown you have next to no concept of what team building is or means, have very little idea of what the defense does, what the offense does, and What the team does, I am not surprised with your comments.
The Pats movements have been ODD or lackadaisical. If anything, they have been very methodical. As always.
F.O. Finding a#1 guy at WR? "F".....so far! Hicks was a risk but the price was Patriotesque and we whiffed. Was the Jackson gang deal trumped up? He was reasonable when you look at what Decker and Wallace are paid. They have to have something in mind via trade.... Andre Johnson? Perhaps. He might work. Fitzgerald? Love him but the F.O. is not that aggressive. Blackmon? He makes perfect sense but the F.O. probably lost Jacksonville's phone number. Mike Williams has just go picked up for the cost of a 6th rounder from the Bucs to the Bills. A steal there perhaps and Marrone knows him. Another miss......ah but they say Steve Johnson might be available now. He is 6'2" and O.K.,... a little bit of a diva but a 1,000+YD WR when healthy. An upgrade over LaFell in talent and only 27. ...Would ya? Same conference might not work for the Bills.
The Pats HAVE to have a plan in mind!
Your ignorance is astounding. They have this kid named Aaron Dobson that they added last year. He's 6'2 or so and 200 lbs. Pretty fast. Put up the best numbers of a rookie with Brady as the QB despite missing 4 games.
They also have another kid named Thompkins who showed fairly well last year. And a 3rd kid in Josh Boyce who seemed to be coming on before an injury knocked him out. You add them to Amendola and Edelman you you've got a corps of receivers that should get BETTER.
Lafell can play both the Y and Z receiver positions and play all the FLEX-TE routes as well. He also blocks extremely well for a receiver. Let's not forget that he's also 6'3 so he should be a good Red Zone threat as well. But, yeah, you can show that you know nothing about him and give the Pats an "F" because you have this love fest for a position that the Pats don't have on their team. That's right. Since BB has been here, they've never had a #1 WR. He's been asked numerous times and he's said so himself. Even when Moss was here, he wasn't Brady's primary target.
D-Line? I give them a "D". Should be an "F" for not paying attention and secondly for a missed opportunity to make the Team better. I love Vince. He is aging and who knows if he is the same player. The number to cut him was attractive price wise if you get someone better. Would not Jared Allen as pretty darn healthy and still effective have made the Patriots better for the $8mm he signed for? The astounding part is after Vince resigned we had the money to get Allen and whiffed again. The Pats are a better Team with Allen than Vince in my humble opinion, but both could have happened. Too much "March Madness" basketball Bill.
Kamerion Wimbley is being asked to cut or your out in Nashville..Thoughts Cousins? Bill..is there any interest? He can rush! Had years of 9.5 and 11 sacks.
Why not Jared Allen? Gee. Maybe because they didn't want to give an aging DE that much money? You're such a hypocrite. You complain about Vince's age, but then you want Allen who is only 4 months younger than Vince. How would the team be BETTER with Allen and without Wilfork? Explain that in terms of how this team plays the 4-3 UNDER.
LB? "C-" for indifference. They tried Woodyard...O.K. Still kind of weak in the middle. Pat Angerer is available. He has been nicked in 2012 and 2013 but had 148 tackles, 9 stuffs behind the line and 3 passes defended in 2011. He is only 27 and Bill's buddy Kirk Ferentz coached him. Tackling Machine and now healthy. Was a second round pick in 2010. Cheap competition in camp.
Angerer is worse than Spikes when it comes to both pass coverage and run coverage. Yet you want to add him??
Could you tell me how many Ferentz coached players the Patriots have had on their team? I'll even give you a hint. You can count them on one hand.
TE? "F" you mean to say that the day when we pick up Chung, the Ravens get the productive Owen Daniels for near the same money and we need a TE? Is the Draft board all set for that position Bill?
Another case of you talking before you think. Did you ever stop to think that the Ravens didn't let Daniels get a chance to talk to the Patriots? Nope. You didn't.
OH, and Daniels is coming off an injury, which is why they got him so cheap.
O-Line? "F" See above. The overpriced sieve Connolly is still here and the munchkin Wendall? resigned? Does the Draft Board have some corkers lined up at OL Bill?
Considering your ignorance on players in the NFL, I am not surprised by your ignorance of college players. Connolly isn't over-priced and he's not nearly the sieve you claim him to be. Also, Wendell's contract is such that he can be CUT without much of a hit to the Pats.
RB? "C" Still think Ridley is overrated. He has some "dance" in him. I liked Blount's game better. If smart, they get something for him before his rookie contract expires and Draft a RB to back up Vareen.
Well, considering how you used to bash James Sanders and numerous others despite how the facts proved you wrong, I'm not surprised you consider Ridley over-rated. I liked Blount but have a strong feeling that once Talib was gone, Blount decided to not come back.
QB? "INC." Mallett still has value after the dust and the hype clears on the big three. A Trade might be in the works if he is sending first class plane tickets to those QB's who might drop. I think Mallet is already traded.
S? "INC." Has to be ...Chung? Please. Was not Gregory even better?
Actually, Chung is the better special teamer. Chung is back on a deal that makes him very easy to cut during training camp if he can't outplay someone like Ebner or Tavon Wilson. However, you make it sound like the Pats over-paid for him by millions upon millions.
Bill must have some clandestine plan to make the Pats better! At this minute Cousins, do any of you think they are much better than 2013?
DW Toys
If you are whining and complaining about the Pats not having done enough, then that is usually a good sign that they've done an excellent job.
Yes, Bill Belichick has a "clandestine" plan to improve this team. That's why you don't know or cannot fathom what it is. But then, you also fail to consider so many moving parts such as salary demands, the salary cap, player attitude towards coaches, player attitude towards the game, player background, etc, that it's easy to see why you are always confused and ignorant and making such silly threads as this one.
