Dude, if you actually think that McElroy "beat out" anyone when Sanchez went down, then you really aren't that bright. Such a belief seriously calls your judgment into question.

People have been saying that for about 30 years. Mobile QBs will never thrive in the NFL because they can't stay healthy. Don't get me wrong, we will still see the occasional mobile QB come and go, but it will never achieve widespread appeal.

The wildcat came and went. The read option came and went....just like I said it would.

Mobile QB's who can't pass won't be long for success in this league. Now I think it's beneficial for a QB to extend plays with his legs like a Roethlisberger or Wilson , but the bottom line is this is a passing league where good passers succeed and mediocre passers don't. And that ain't changing any time soon. Period.

anybody can get ahead of the curb...it's a stationary piece of rock in the road...I believe CURVE is the word you are looking for...

ahead of the curve literally refers to your position on the statistical bell curve, where the top of the curve represents the median, average result. By being ahead of the curve you represent the top percentile of results that either has the advanced skills or understanding that sets you apart.

I'll disagree. I think the demographics will indeed lead to a change. More and more college teams are going to spread option type systems. One of the main reasons is that you can be very good without having a "franchise" type pocket passing QB. QBs like Andrew Luck are once in a generation. Guys not quite up to his level are still few and far between. It's worth noting that Luck was 1-2 against Oregon teams fielding vastly inferior QBs (according to traditional standards).

I think there will come a time where teams will go with 2 or 3 lower cost Spread Option QBs instead of a $20+ million pocket passer.

One thing to note is that in Spread Option systems, the QB doesn't have to run all that often in order to be a threat and to affect the way defenses have to account for him in their scheme. Chip Kelly's Oregon offense is a perfect example of this.

It's highly irrelevant as the question being discussed was whether or not AJ McCarron would/could be a starting QB in the NFL. I said that I think he is similar to McElroy, and posted the Senior season stats of both showing how similar they were. McElroy didn't have what it takes to be a starter in the NFL, hence, he was a backup.

In his 3 year career in the NFL, he managed to start 1 game and has subsequently retired.

Tebow has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion other than your lame assed desire to interject him into this thread to try and needle me.

You want to talk Tebow with me, take it to the farking Tebow thread and I'll happily continue to embarrass you there.
