Damn. Tough crowd here.

The Pats sign two veteran wide receivers today with 154 catches last year and everyone is *****in' and moanin' about not giving Brady receivers....

Sheesh.

You guys need Sirius radio to listen the Raiders, Browns, Lions, Bucs, Cowboys, and Jags fans to get a little perspective.

If he is a good blocker for a WR, doesn't mind inside routes, could he be used as a "Move TE" alternative as well? APerp was only 6'1" tall, but 20 #s heavier.

If Gronk is 6'6" then APerp was more than just 3" shorter; So I'd put more stock in the NFL's listed height of 6'1" than anything from Fla....

Be glad that we don't have the panther's WR situation.

To have a WR situation, I believe you will need to have WRs? :confused2:

We will have to remind ourselves that the panthers had one of the very best QB's in the league in 2014, and that the panthers were 12-4 with a first round bye.

What they have done to themselves is unbelievable.

I guess that's what happens the year after or the second year after you go "all in" during free agency.

I don't think the head coach was thinking much beyond saving his job, which he did. I can't blame him though. He did what he had to do. He's bought himself another year.

Semi-OT:

I'd like to thank BB for giving me something interesting to post about on a day where my cable **** the bed, my water heater followed the cable, my thermostat joined in with the water heater and the cable and, as a result, I'm spending a Saturday night getting starter seeds set up for my planting when that should have been finished at about 3:30 pm today.

LaFell may, or may not, be an answer for the Patriots, but he's kept me from throwing planting trays around the basement, so he's alright in my book, right now.

Especially when you consider what the Saints, Bucs and Falcons have done on D in these early stages of Free Agency.

I would of rather picked up James jones can't imagine he would be much more expensive.

On that note, he's got my support at the moment and we shouldn't right him off until he proves he can't be a good player on this team.

He's not here to be a number 1, he's here to give us some size and big play yardage.

Damn! Sorry about your situation Deus...but when all is well you're gonna look at this signing, and say...WTF?

Only on Patsfans.com do we compare a 3.6m per year #3 WR signing to Randy Moss.

Guess what folks, Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson, etc. are not walking through that door. And if they were, they wouldn't be willing to take 3.6m per year!

LOL, I'm seriously baffled at people's expectations. So, yes we just added a Hall of Fame caliber player to our CB collection. That doesn't mean we can also afford to add a HOF DE, WR, and DT as well! There's this thing called a Salary Cap!!

Right. I think what a lot of people are saying is why waste the remaining cap space on a questionable #3 Wr at 3.6 mil. a year?

Throwing that money away just cause you can't get a Moss, Rice, or Johnson for that price is irresponsible IMO.

Is LaFell's cap hit really a guaranteed $3.6M?

The Jonathan Stewart contract is a joke:

We don't know what his cap hit is this year. But we do know is in '15 Hernandez's $7.5m comes off the books and the salary cap probably goes up to $145m and in '16 probably goes up to $160m.

We also have to remind ourselves how nice it is not to have a selfish egomaniac for a QB. Cam Newton's such a joy to play with, he got the GM that drafted him fired, all 4 of his receivers went somewhere else, and his O-line retired. All in one year's worth of work!

No, I do not know that for fact. I was just averaging it out, but still if there was "as much interest" for his services as stated previously rest assured we over payed to get him.

"It's Tebow Time!" Okay maybe not.
