The Jets are only my best guess because they're flush with cap room even before cutting Sanchez and Holmes and they just cut Cromartie. Admittedly I have no idea if I'm right about that. Like I said, I hope that he's been quiet about the team means that it's the Pats.

There are a couple of teams that are flushed with cap space pursuing him including the Vikings and Redskins (and you know how much Snyder will over pay for a player). Who knows.

The jets have the cap money and the need. The question is whether they prefer Verner or Talib.

A lot stands to happen between now and tomorrow at 4pm. However if anyone has to walk, I prefer it be Talib over Edelman.

I hope we can keep both, but I think Talib is very important for our defense and do not want to see him leave at all. I think he should be our number one priority in free agency.

Ideally both would stay, but if one had to go, my choice would be Talib.

The reason I'd pick Edelman to stay is because he also plays on ST and is one of the better PR. Talib doesn't play on ST. Edelman's work ethic and team spirit is also unquestionable.

IMHO it is easier to learn and function in our D than it is to learn our offense. Mess up on D and you piss off just one person. Mess up on O and you piss off one person and lose the trust of another.

Fair point....I really wish we keep both though. It's going to be a very interesting and nerve racking next 24-48 hours

FWIW, Verner said on the radio that the Pats are a definite possibility.

RT @MadDogRadio: Verner: "(New England) is definitely a possibility.. Jason's brother (Devin) has been lobbying for me (to join Patriots)"

If Verner already has a deal in place, this a good sign that it is with the Pats.

Devin lobbying and Bill paying are two things in entirely different worlds.

It's also possible BB knows and gave his approbation for McCourty to reach out to Verner, if the latter is a player whom they really covet.

He also said this..

Verner: "I would definitely consider (San Francisco).. they've been winning.. I just feel like that's not a direction they're going"

Verner: "(Playing for Rex and the Jets) could be a (great fit).. Revis and Cromartie both thrived in that system"

Verner: "(Denver) would definitely be a good situation for me"

But maybe this one time it's like in the recent Thor movie when all the worlds are aligned.

While I agree, and they are slightly different, lets not forget that Talib basically talked Bill into giving up a draft pick for his friend, McCourty probably has more pull.

But like I said, it is different in that Blount isn't going to command 9m/yr+ anytime soon.

Well, if Talib is asking top dollar, Verner isn't going to get paid any more. Belichick may decide to go with the more durable and younger player. Belichick may have accepted the fact he has to pay for a top CB and would rather pay through the nose for Verner.
