Jimmy Graham NE Patriot?

I always thought the whole two tight end offense was exaggerated. Hernandez was a good player but he correlated with the greatness of Gronkowski and that created a belief that he was a more dynamic player. He was a third option on an offense with the best tight end on the planet and the best slot receiver in NFL history.

The point I'm making is replacing Hernandez is not going to require a player like Graham. I am not sure that it would be an efficient use of resources to have Gronkowski and Graham on the same team. They are both used to being the lead dogs. I would rather divide the money up between a good number #2 tight end and then improving other parts of the offense.

I disagree completely B6.

Hernandez was a nightmare for defenses to contain. Too fast for LB's. Too big for DB's. He played with his hand on the dirt, they lined him out wide, in the slot, he even had a couple of carries from the backfield. I've always said people fall in love with stats, and since Gronk and Welker always piled them up, some viewed AH as overrated, but that's not the case at all.

It turns out he's a dumbass and a POS, but he was an awesome football player. And one we missed all season. We play a 2 TE set, finding a capable TE to play with Gronk is a huge need.

If we made this move, we would definitely win the Super Bowl in Madden.

I agree that he was a nightmare to defend, as I said he was a good player. I just think that his contributions to this team were overrated, he was an above average tight end no doubt about it, I just never held him in the same category as a Gronkowski, Graham, Davis, etc.

So, by that logic it would be bad to have 2 elite OLB/DEs that are great at getting to the QB because only 1 can get there at a time?

Just had to poke some fun at you as I see your point.

I think we need to work out a deal with the Saints after they sign Graham (assuming they reach a long term deal). This yeas, we'll get Graham for our team and next year we'll "lend" them Gronk.

Maybe if we break PMs record 2 years running, the competition committee will get back to allowing defenses to play football (well other than the superbowl when defenses can play circa 1975 rules it seems).

well, fantasy does play a huge part in today's NFL...just look at the equating of Amendola with Brandon Lloyd. Some people will go to any preposterous lengths to carry on with their idiotic hate filled jihads, spewing fantasy goo goo gaa gaa stats to buttress their idiotic premises. Lloyd was NOT a slot receiver. Dobson and Boyce were drafted to replace Lloyd's production. Period.

This won't stop the ridiculous Amendola bashing though. Just equate Lloyd with Amendola because ...well gaa gaa gee gee, you read some stat sheets from Rotoworld. This trolling is getting BEYOND ridiculous.

Most agree that Patriots need another TE-WR-like player. Most likely it will be in the draft, as Pitta and Graham is not happening.

Most predict Jace Amaro, but, I prefer the kid from Norte Dame, Troy Nicklas: 6-7, 270lbs, who is a good blocker and soft hands. Probably can get him in 2nd-3rd round. Trade 1st rounder for more picks...

I agree. The answer is obvious. Convert Tim Tebow to Tight End.

If Tebow had signed a future/reserve contract back in January and was in town working to make the transition to tight end I would actually think it had some potential. Given it is March and he seems to be doing T-Mobile commercials and working college games for ESPN I think the Tebow ship has sailed and sunk.

I can certainly see and understand your point there. As enticing as it'd be to have Graham opposite of Gronk, I think I was choose to go in the direction that you are suggesting instead.

If I'm the Seattle Seahawks or Green Bay Packers, I'm willing to sign TE Jimmy Graham to an offer sheet and to give up two 1's to get him.

Reporters should just report and not do analysis. It really shows sometimes.

To be fair it does seem like such a Seattle thing to do, they aren't afraid to give up multiple high draft picks for play makers.

Amani Toomer and Bob Papa were just talking about this on NFL Radio and speculating about it. I don't think Seattle would do it. They would probably be the favorite to win the Super Bowl again (and rightfully so) if they did pull the trigger on such a deal, but they have a lot of their own players that they will have to pay in the near future including, but not limited to, Wilson and Sherman. The Packers are the team I could see doing this the most. I still don't think any team is going to pony up two firsts for Graham and then pay him, though. I think he'll eventually strike a long term deal with the Saints.

Kontra nailed it. It's not just the draft picks. It would be giving another 10 million/yr contract out when Wilson/Sherman's extensions are looming.

Adding a TE that can't block to a power run team doesn't make much sense. The Seahawks OL is pretty bad, they'd be better suited drafting a 1st round T or G. The Packers make more sense with this dumb trade idea.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Jimmy Graham to SEA or NE? Chris Mortensen's reported they may be interested.

Make it stop.

Make it stop.

Chris Mortenson: Hey, BB, would you like to have Jimmy Graham on your team?

BB: Well, of course, he's a great player, but...

CM: "PATRIOTS TRYING TO TRADE FOR GRAHAM!"
