The difference is that you think a straight kid just made a mistake and has to say a Hail Mary but the gay kid was born wrong and must change their entire identity.

People are never immoral. Acts are immoral. So people can never be denegrated but their actions can be judged as right or wrong.

I would tell the teenage homosexual the truth of ************ and give them the hope that can be found in it. I would tell them that if they were willing to follow him, they can have earthly joy and eternal life.
I would tell them that if they want to follow Jesus, they need to pick up their cross and follow him just like all disiciples have to do and part of that cross would be celibacy. I would also tell them that if they fail through weakness that Jesus gives second changes and we can be reconciled to him in the sacrament of confession.
Lastly, I would tell them that regardless of their choice I would gladly be their friend.

We straight people make big public statements about our sexual orientation ALL THE TIME, in good ways and bad. (Heck, I even married a man!) We just never have to label it an annoucement of orientation because being straight is the default. It's what people assume unless informed otherwise. So gay people, including gay football players, have to inform them otherwise. Seems reasonable to me.

I've loved the handful of comments mentioning Sam possibly "flaunting" being gay. wtf does that mean? are people afraid he's going to try to perform fellatio on the field, or show up at a press conference acting like the more flamboyant folks you might see in a gay pride parade?

Why do some people still have this notion that homosexuals are drastically different from heterosexuals (outside of their gender attraction, of course)? I'm guessing / hoping that's limited to people who are older and / or people who have been pretty insulated from any openly homosexual men and women.

These gays are so confused. Most of these gay men run around acting all womanly or should I say attempt to act like a "ghetto black woman" (it's true) and claim to be attracted to men, but they are dating some other man that acts like a woman or some abominated queer, who turned himself into a woman through surgery and pills. If you are so attracted to men, why must you act like a chick or be the chick in the relationship? Why are you still having sex with women, spreading your confusion and gay STDs among others.
That's the whole confusion with queers. It's why when I hit adulthood, I chose not to date anybody because people are so messed up in this world.

Queers can't have sex without developing hemorrhoids and anal problems.These gays can't bear children, without ruining the lives and functions of innocent adopted kids (probably mostly African... poor cheap kids) and wasting the eggs of women, who will gladly sell their eggs for the right price. These kids end up gay and spreading this blasphemy throughout generations. They try to get that same-sex marriage crap legalized in NC and we voted against that crap... they should take their gay mess to D.C or further up North and keep themselves in one area. That way when HE comes to destroy the Earth with fire (obviously fed up with the sinning in the world) HE can strike them first and hopefully last.

I'm tired of these gays, trying to force and shove this gay BS down our throats. Trying to compare themselves not having rights to Blacks in the day. Nobody black chose to be black, they were born that way... they didn't bring themselves here to be sold and beaten, the owners did. If most of the people who you claim were "bashing" christians, etc. aren't christians themselves, this would be a pretty unusual group, statistically speaking.

Perhaps you can feel consolation by knowing that you are above it.

Some people find it ridiculous when people judge other people based on their "knowledge" of what God wants. Do you do that? I don't know, but that was basically my point in my one post about it.

You can see how antagonistic when it can be when people try to impose their beliefs on others, right? It happens all the time, and that's life.

But you'll have to be more specific here. I didn't read the whole thread, but glossing over it, there seems to be enough material here to insult just about anybody.

I don't think they were bashing the gays, but stating what the bible says in reference to them. Either way two wrongs don't make a right. Also many of the posters in this thread who are bashing Catholics, Christians, and the bible have done so in other threads. You don't have to bring others down to bring yourself up. You can fight for your cause without personally attacking whoever you feel is oppressing you etc.

Haven't read this thread much but I think it is very admirable for him to go public about his lifestyle as a future NFL player. I don't know how much prejudice there may be in certain locker rooms but to me it is brave of him. I'm all for gay rights so I'm proud of him!

And yes it is good to make it public. Intolerance toward gays in sports and in this case the NFL is unacceptable. If no one steps up to address the problem it won't get better. I hope this kid overcomes any odds and has a great NFL career.
