Who would you sign to this deal? I guess we could throw in workout bonuses and game bonuses of $500K per year. Obviously, if the player doesn't work out he can be cut after the season, or even cut later this season and replaced by a $1M replacement.

2014 $2M bonus, $1M salary

2015 $4M

2016 $5M

2017 $6M

We don't have to, we already have him.

That would essentially be Amendola's cap number and play.

How much is guaranteed?

Danario alexander! Yes he's been injured a lot but when healthy he's amazing.

I wanted Danario Alexander last year. Of course, he tore his ACL in TC and missed the entire season. Only about the 10,000th knee injury he's had, so my plan wouldn't have worked out too well. Maybe we'd get lucky this year with him ... maybe not.

why not just sign someone who doesn't have to "show me", i.e., someone who isn't injured and over the age of 30 and pay them a fair salary? Looking for all these "team friendly" deals hasn't won the Patriots a Super Bowl going on 10 seasons....that's not a great record considering the coach/qb tandem

Alexander would sign for that in a heartbeat, because it's a huge overpay.

Getting Alexander for about $1m per = understandable risk, especially since BB loves the glass menagerie.

Paying Alexander more than $4m per = insane

I hope the Pats learned last year that picking up retreads like Hawkins,
Jenkins, and Jones is not the answer. Edelman proved this year that he
is compatible with Brady. Why shake things up a second year in a row and
let him go? The Pats may have to wait another half year for the offense to gel again next year.

I'd like to see the Pats bring back the WR from Northwestern that we drafted a few years ago. I thought he would develop into a better receiver in our offense than Aman-injured-dola ever could.

Bring him back on the cheapest deal of course.

You mean Jeremy Ebert of all 3 catches in his career. Who couldn't even get much playing time in Jacksonville?

I wonder what James Jones will get...

Not an FA, But Jags would take a low pick for WR Justin Blackmon to bail. If his hab went well he might be the steal of the year talent wise. He is schedule to be reinstated.

Prove you can stay sober Justin.

Blackmon would actually be a pretty safe gamble, if the draft pick given wasn't too high. The way his contract was set up, all the guaranteed money/signing bonus is already paid out.

Not eligible to apply for re-instatement until beginning of 2014 season. So he would miss all of offseason and training camp.

How many Danny Amendola threads can we have?
