No news yet as to why Tom is missing from the press conferences ... Hopefully it's nothing, but highly irregular nonetheless.

Hmmm. Thought I saw in passing that all 4 QBs this weekend were going to participate in some kind of media access through NFL network? I wasn't paying attention though, so don't know the details...

It's confirmed that he will not appear and he also missed practice. Some reporters are speculating he's down with the flu.

From my post in the Dobson thread:

Mike Reiss said:
The reason for Brady's absence is unclear, as is whether he will take part in any portion of Wednesday's practice. A source told ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss that Brady is "good and will be ready for Sunday."

Brady did not suffer any apparent injury during the team's game against the Colts on Saturday night, though he was sick throughout the week last week.

He has been listed as a limited participant with a shoulder injury on multiple occasions since late October, though Brady has not missed a practice this season.

The Patriots moved Brady's regularly scheduled Wednesday news conference to Friday morning.

He was one of two Patriots not seen at the start of practice, as long snapper Danny Aiken, who was also playing through illness on Saturday night, was also not spotted.

Real flu or one of the many random things people mistakenly call "flu"? Big difference.

So both times the Patriots have played Manning in the AFCCG, they've been hit by the flu... probably a coincidence.

Off-topic, did you guys hear about Roger Goodell's new NFL bio-research lab? I guess he's big into the sciences.

He had a temp of 103 the night before the AFCCG in Pittsburgh nine years ago. Perhaps this is a good omen.

And of course whatever it is, how bad is it and who else is about to come down with it?

(Cowers under table with 2006 AFCCG flashbacks...)

According to this board we suck at passing the football despite Brady throwing for over 2500 yards in the second half of the season, so maybe BB told Brady to go home, we don't need you.

i heard he also had playoff fatigue

Tune's not a doctor, he only plays one on TV...

Just to nitpick, this is actually their third matchup in the AFCCG and fourth in the playoffs overall.

Anyway, Please don't be the flu, please don't be the flu, please don't be the flu.

EDIT: Well seems like my theory was wrong according to reports.

Danny Aiken has been hit with the illness that's going around the Patriots locker room. He was sent home for the day.

"I have a bad feeling about this."

Sounds like the Pats are just trying to keep this bug from going around the entire locker room. If that means Brady is held out of practice to keep him from spreading it before the game (or catching it if its a different illness), then so be it.

The myth of hand santizers. They dry up your skin, unclog your pores, and make you more susceptible to catching germs. You want to protect yourself? Go outside and rub your hands in the dirt.

I don't care about Brady or Aiken missing a day or two of practice per se. I worry about exactly what the bug is, how bad it makes you feel, and how many other people are about to get it, especially if they get it bad by game day.
