2014 Draft Prospect Thread

This draft is loaded. I hope they trade down at this point.

On Troy Niklas no recent ND TE have been anything special in he NFL. They have been able to stick on there Teams but they are nothing special. Austin Seferein-Jenkins would be perfect for our Pats. The 2014 Draft now have very Good dept at TE.

Austin Seferein-Jenkins would be perfect for the Patriots?

What makes you so interested in him? What round do you think he'd go? [No snark or sarcasm here.]

Ray Rice 2.0, but probably 3rd round, as a first guess.

Well i havent seen all the RB's that will be on the draft but i would be very surprised if there is a better blocker than Freeman. And his receiving ability is amazing. The kid is small but as powerful as anyone.

I think he could be elite.

2nd round for me easily but with a draft this stacked maybe a 3rd.

Take a look at OTG's scouting report on Freeman:

Category: Devonta Freeman -

To summarize:

- Unselfish team-first player, experienced playing in a RBBC system
- Great power for his size, can run inside as well as out
- Underrated receiving capability
- Good acceleration and burst
- Terrific processing capability, can read defenses
- Excellent blocker
- Non-stop motor

What's not to like?

Spikes won't be returning now, I'm comfortable with Mayo, Hightower, Collins, and Fletcher but if BB wants to replace Spikes with a similar player Yawin Smallwood from UCONN and Andrew Jackson of WKU could be fits. I'd personally like to add a very solid tackler and smart leader Max Bullough of MSU.

Yawin Smallwood is much smaller and more athletic than spikes. Not a big slow run stuffer.

That's assuming the FESPN report is true, which is not at all a given.

Aren't you forgetting Steve Beauharnais? I suspect he was drafted as a future replacement for Spikes' roster spot with Hightower stepping up into Spikes' role.

If you are looking for a day 3 MLB at this point, Max Bullough from Michigan St. is a poor man's Sean Lee. Very smart, tough, good in coverage but not a liability against the run.

But I'm comfortable with Hightower at MLB given the versatility of Mayo and Spikes to play inside, and see what Beauharnais has got. What I'd really love to do is to add Kyle Van Noy (a Manx favorite) in the 2nd round and see what he and Collins can do together.

Yep, big fan of Van Noy but I actually think LB is one of the positions I think we're least likely to draft. Having said that, Greg Blair of Cincinnati (we double dipped there in post draft FA last year) or Roosevelt Nix, a 260lb DT from Kent State who's expected to switch to MLB are two possibilities for me. In fact, considering how much BB loves putting freaks of nature out there (Blount and Hightower for example), I might just push Nix near the top of my UDFA list. Has that versatility BB likes.

You're correct, but assuming it is, he won't be back, he was almost released by the cold BB, very sad in my opinion, one of my favorite players to watch

I absolutely love Max Bullough, not sure why he's rated 5th round, but he'll be something one day, perfect MLB on a young D, great leadership besides great skill, not sure if Pats take him but I definitely wouldn't mind it at all
