Well I'd reply by saying that Logan Thomas has much, if not more experience than either of those two and probably more as an out and out passer. And having checked, he has nearly twice as many pass attempts as either Martinez or Shaw. I don't think he's any more a project than the other two but has the advantagew of having the size and athleticism to fall back into another area if he busts as a QB.
I am more and more on the Logan Thomas bandwagon by the day if the price is right (4th round or later).
I agree with you a lot manxman, but I just can't here, Thomas will bust at QB, we know that going into the draft, Shaw has higher completion percentages, less INTs, and a better QBR than Thomas every single year of play. Shaw threw one INT all 2013 while Logan Thomas threw FOUR (!!!!) INTs in just ONE (!!!) game against Duke's defense. Shaw ran for 2 more TDs than Thomas in 2013, and has averaged more per run every single year.
Now for your purpose, if Shaw were to bust, he is the toughest player in CFB this year pound for pound and wouldn't be surprised at all, in the event of a bust, of a conversion to RB or FB while even Martinez can be a RB.
Last year, Thomas put up 1 TD in a Bowl game against a Rutgers D that included NFL talent like Ryan, Harmon, Greene, Cooper. If he can put up 1 TD against 3 second/third string NFL DBs and another two LBs that haven't proven much (Greene/Beauharnais), what can he do against an NYJ or Bills defense in his future? Thomas threw for a grand total of 0 TDs this past week in the Sun Bowl against a UCLA defense featuring 3 VERY talented LBs (Myles Jack, Anthony Barr, and Eric Kendricks) all future NFL talent.
Shaw, in a 2012 Bowl game against a Nebraska defense starring all NFL talent Lavonte David, our very own Alfonzo Dennard, ILB Will Compton, Damion Stafford, and Jared Crick, threw for 2 TDs and ran for another. In 2012, against a Stacked (Mingo, Reid, Minter, Logan, Montgomery, Simon, Edwards, Loston, Barrow) LSU defense threw for another 2 TDs. Shaw has beaten and played SEC defenses weekly while Thomas plays and gets picked non-stop by mediocre ACC defenses like Duke. Thomas is on the downfall since 2012 while Shaw is the exact opposite. All should go undrafted, but I'd rather have Shaw and even Matinez IMO over Thomas any day.
