2014 Draft Prospect Thread

This means nothing but a few days ago Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah told Alfonzo Dennard via Twitter "bro tell the Pats to draft me! Lol" They are former college teammates and appear to be close friends. He is a junior I-back who was considered to not enter this year but who knows, I believe I "scouted" him Thanksgiving week

He really should get in touch with Talib instead.

What do people think of Daniel McCullers? Big nose tackle from Tennessee.

Louis Nix III:
Louis Nix Scouting Report- 2014 NFL Draft
My opinion of him as changed a bit.

Good stuff mate, I'm glad I'm not the only one that see's Nix as more than just a monster run stuffer. The thing that impresses me the most about him is his quick feet. He moves unbelievable well for a guy his size and consistently gets initial penetration. He often lacks the closing speed to rack up sacks but he is always in the backfield creating pressure. I've said all season I think he will drop to the end of the 1st round (maybe even top of the 2nd) because NT's are becoming undervalued in the pass happy NFL and he wont test out great athletically. But I think he is a beast though and agree he has the potential to be the best NT in the NFL.

He asked a question and I answered it, what's the problem?

Also, this is someone who is a big and very quick player.

WANT!

I know what you mean, but NTs used to be huge men with a strong feelings for food. I dont think there are many on the size of McCullers WHO are fast. They may have good first step AND for a man on that size i do think he does. He wont be a side line to side line defender, but for what he do, he's upside might be the best in years. Just the size on this big man alone is something you can't teach OR practice against. ( Know im alone on this ) But i would rather have him then Nix.. #75 gonna scream - But give him a year behind big vince to learn and he's gonna be dominate and free up a guy like Easley.

Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks and Allen Robinson have all made it official today. This is a deep deep draft for wide receivers.

He's very big and very slow.

Exactly. He's the worst one gap lineman in the history of football. But two gap linemen don't need athleticism. They don't penetrate, so they are never in the backfield. They play the run first, so effective pass rushing is basically impossible, not that he would be a good pass rusher if given the opportunity. Two gap linemen need length and strength to make tackles in traffic, draw double teams, maybe collapse the pocket, height to see the ball carrier and know which arm to put out to make the play. In short, he has extreme weaknesses in areas of the game that don't affect his success, and extreme strengths in areas of the game that he needs to excel at for success.

Let me make this clear: Daniel McCullers is a specialist. He is unplayable on third down, he doesn't have the athleticism to be of any use in the open field, but he's dominant in traffic and it is impossible to run inside when he is clogging up the middle. It is so easy to play to his strengths, and that's why he is valuable.

McCullers and Easley... WOW!!! That would be one hell of a duo in your hybrid defense... McCullers playing the Wilfork as a two gappper with Dominique Easley being the one gap 3 technique... if Easley is healthy, his quickness and athleticism combined with the amount of blocks that McCullers would eat up would turn Easley into Warren Sapp from day 1. That would be an incredible fit.

I'm watching the Sugar Bowl atm. I don't particularly want to spend another pick on a WR after taking 2 last year. However, Alabama WR Kevin Norwood would look great in a Pats' uni. :rocker:

For once, McCarron didn't have all day to throw. 7 sacks and 2 INTs later, have fun in the NFL.

I would still take AJ over Johnny football

Boooooooooooo!

This is why I like this forum though. Everyone has their opinions and favorite prospects, but no one accuses eachother of being homers, personal attacks, or pages of arguing. Manx is right, the draft forum is a place of peace among these parts.

I think McCarron can still do well in the NFL. He knows what it takes to win championships and put in the work. I think he can be successful. Johnny idk about. But who knows

How about Easley and Nix?
