So, anybody think the Pats can't do it?

Of course they can do it. The AFC is a mess and it's absolutely reasonable to believe the Pats can win the conference. As for taking on teams like SEA & SF? We'll need one hell of a gameplan.

I think NE can do it, but it isn't likely.

This team reminds me a lot of 2011... Things kept falling into place, they made it to the SB, but ultimately their weaknesses let them down.

People will remind me about WW not catching the ball and the incredible sideline catch... but that NE team wasn't the best in the league - GB fell, as did other solid clubs.

So, back to original thought : it'd be amazing, and it IS possible, but unlikely......

I guarantee the Chargers will win the super bowl after the Pats help them get into the playoffs.

There is no dominant team in the AFC this year ...

I think the reality is that anyone who makes the playoffs has a chance like the Giants who won a few years ago.

I don't think any AFC team has a greater chance of being there than us.

As of today because we control our destiny I would say we should be the favorite ... for now.

C'mon.

A 9-7 team beat them in the SB.

They had just as much right to win the SB as the Giants. It wasn't as if they were simply lucky to be there.

Yeah, I think so. May be the touphest team Ive seen in NE for some time.

"just as much right" is factual. But, they didn't win. Thus my point : they have a chance this year. But I think they'll slip up rather than win it all. I'm hoping I'm off and that they just gut it out...

Not surprised people were despairing after Gronk's injury but...

We obviously still have talent on each side of the ball.

Since the season had been "over" after every single game this year (think back) who's not in?

I think they have a much better chance of winning a super bowl than scoring a touchdown, recovering an onside kick and scoring another touchdown all within 61 seconds to complete a comeback and win the game… oh wait they did that...

Yes without a doubt anytime Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are in the equation we have a chance.

Of course, the Pats can win the SuperBowl. Let's try a little trickier question. What's more likely? The Pats winning the SuperBowl? Or scoring in the first half of a game this season?

It's funny that you mention that. For the last several years the team that played the eagles in their home opener ended up winning the Super Bowl. This year the chargers played in the eagles in the eqgles opening home game.

In reality I don't think the chargers will make it primarily because the dolphins have the tie breaker over them, and the ravens have the tie breaker over the dolphins. Baltimore is likely to lose 2 out of their remaining 3 games versus NE, Det and cincy. Miami has NE, jets and bills. - likely to win 2 of those games. San Diego has Oakland and KC, but is 1 game behind Balt and Miami. I think miami gets in.
