Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

What part of "I don't know if I said it or not" don't you understand?

You can now drop out the "a bit" part before when I said you were acting like a bit of a ****.
Better than looking like a fool for saying you knew prior to the 2008 that the defending conference champions were facing a "lost year" and losing Gronkowski this year is a worse loss than Brady in 2008.

Don't blame me for your own idiotic statements. It's not my fault you're making a huge fool of yourself; I'm just helping the process along.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

That is a vicious hit, slamming his knee joint as its planted. The NFL, Goodell, whoever has got to do something about this BS. This season is 5h!t fest of injuries and blown calls. League wide, fans, analysts, reporters are getting fed up. Goodell has destroyed the NFL. Now the players excuse is " I don't want a fine, that's the rules". The rules are being abused as a loop hole to injure players. Gronk burned Ward and got a PI on the previous play. And there were a few words exchanged. And Bingo, he's carted off. I'm not buying Wards crocodile tears. Theres no way a human being can launch themselves at another human, and not expect to seriously injury them in that fashion. NO WAY. Nobody "Tackles" anymore. It's "launch your full weight at them and hurt them".

You are a sad little man, aren't you?

Thanks, buddy, I needed the laugh.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

It was a textbook tackle for a guy going up against a larger, stronger opponent. You don't try to wrap up someone like Gronk because he'll drag you 10 yards. You aim to take out their legs.

He didn't deliberately target the knee. At those speeds, he was just trying to get in front of Gronk and make him lose his footing. It wasn't dirty, despite some in here who constantly have the need to feel the Patriots are persecuted by the refs, the commissioner, the league, other players, etc.
I agree, ive seen that play hundreds of times. If he had hit gronk up higher he would have bounced off. And i can't judge intent with how fast that play happened. As for the rest, while i don't think the pats are singled out by the commish or other players per se, i do think theres a strong possibility Booger was. He was called out by BB after the jest game for that call on the FG. i was shocked when Booger called the on side kick our way after ignoring so many blatant penalties earlier in the game.

None of this matters. The league has an all-important foothold in London and is looking forward to its first blizzard-hampered Super Bowl.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Poor Gronk. I just imagined him riding off on that cart thinking to himself, "Not again. More surgery..."

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Head first shoulder first whatever floats your boat. Launching at a player isn't tackling. I think I've got runs on the board to prove I take aim at Patriots players in an objective manner comparable to my appraisal of the wider NFL.

I didn't say you weren't objective. You usually are. What you were, in this case, is wrong. DB's have hit bigger TE's like this since the first kickoff of the first football game ever played. If you don't, the TE is going for another chunk of yardage in the open and the DB is getting reamed out by his coach on the sideline. Further, league legislation entails that defenders can no longer go high on receivers without drawing a flag. If they can't hit them low either then you might as well throw flags around the receivers waists because it's no longer tackle football.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

It's not a dirty hit, it is what the league wants players to do. Can't blame Ward for it at all. A few years ago he would have gone higher and tried to jar the ball loose, but now you have to do that. It is what it is

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Poor Gronk.

You have to wonder what all these injuries will do to his mentality.

He just spent so much time recovering from the forearm injury, and finally got back. Now he's out for another year.

It was clear to me from the first replay that it wasn't helmet to knee but rather shoulder pad to knee.

But after watching it over and over, it wasn't directly on the knee. It was the shoulder pad to a couple of inches above the knee. Which of course (as we empirically just saw) can cause just as much damage.

To me that brings up an interesting question -- where exactly do you allow the hit? Take a planted leg -- I bet you can hit it well above the knee and still blow a knee ligament, especially on a hit from the side. Do you then really want the NFL to say you can't hit below (say) six inches above the knee?

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Don't complain about the hit. Blame the rules and Goodell. Stop flagging incidental contact to the head and hits to the upper CHEST. Safeties would not be forced to go low like that (although they still might)

It was not vicious. It was a bang bang play.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Absolutely sucks for this year, but the one positive is he should be 100% before the start of the season.

Adrian Peterson tore his ACL in late December last year and he is on track for a 1,500 rushing season this year. No reason to believe Gronk won't be back to 100% by the start of the season or earlier in 2014.

Maybe. I hope you're right. Peterson's case is usually talked about like it's an exception. They'll no doubt have a better idea after the MRI and certainly will know a lot more after the surgery itself, but I don't think we should be surprised if he's on the PUP list at the beginning of next season and doesn't see any action until around the half way point. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Ward saying he was forced to hit low is bs. All the league wants is to avoid neck and head hits. Gronks chest is pretty damn far from his knee. Ward just didn't want to tackle Gronk where he might've bounced off like a *****.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

I use to go on godell is ruining foot rants for years ala Joker, then someone (maybe Mo Lewis Rocks ) pointed out that the owners must be pleased with him otherwise they wouldn't have renewed his contract. The owners are ruing the game, its looking less and less like the game i once knew. If it continues i don't know how much longer i can watch.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

I was not talking about things 1to1 I was referring to everything this team has experienced this season:

  • Welker leaves in free agency
  • Hernandez charged with murder
  • Wilfork lost for the year
  • Kelly lost for the year
  • Mayo lost for the year
  • Vollmer lost for the year
  • Gronkowski misses the first 6 games of the season and now is likely lost for the year
Those are just the major things plenty of other injuries such as Talib, Amendola, Vereen, Dennard, Dobson….

Yet, here we are at 10-3 and ready to lock up the AFC east next week.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

That's 100% true... and Ward knows it himself.

That's why he had to go low.

When most Safeties have a 260lbs Tight End running by them, they do the same thing.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

I think we need to sign or draft a TE. I don't know who is out there but we need a good reliable target other than Gronk. I don't blame Gronk's durability for the injury but we can't continue to rely on him 'staying healthy'.

Aaron Hernandez says hi!
