He cannot be worse than Cole. Or Arrington on the outside
Dowling is on the Jets practice squad, I believe. And he'd get injured putting his pads on on game day.I think Dowling is out there doing nothing and he knows the system.
It would be funny if I wasn't joki...am I?
We would rather play no one in round 1 then 3rd, 4th or 5th seed at home in round 2 than 5th or 6th in round 1, then 1 or 2 in round 2 on the road. Thats a nobrainer. We would so much rather play Cinci than KC?
If we beat Denver Sunday night, we are 1 game behind them. We have no one left on our schedule likely to beat us in a Nov/Dec game.Extrapolating a little too far - but what the heck... it's the internet.
I'd rather not win the #2 seed (I'd bet we're pretty much assured of not getting #1 unless some freak situation unfolds in Denver) and have Talib for the playoffs than be the #2 seed and not have Talib ready to play.
Same goes for Gronk.
Same logic applies here for me for both the #3 and #4 seeds, honestly.

The 1 seed is very much in play with a win Sunday.

This is the downside with Talib. He's among the very best in the league when healthy, but the chronic hip injury means that he seems to be virtually incapable of staying healthy. I feel for the guy, since the main point in taking that one-year contract was to prove that he could stay healthy for an entire season. This is the exact opposite of what he was hoping to come out and do.
At this point, I think it would be unwise for the Patriots to invest more than ~$5M per year in him, and even that might be going too high. Chronic hip injuries are not something to be taken lightly.
Also, if Talib and Dennard are both out, the Pats have pretty much no shot at beating Denver. Puncher's chance at best.
Is this hip injury ever going to go away?
Talib lost millions tonight...millions.
Sure, I agree. The only problem is that it's going to take practically a perfect game on offense to hang about 50 on them. Even then, that may not be enough.
Being down 3/4 of your secondary and having to rely on 2 rookies, Marquice Cole, and Arrington on the outside vs Manning and the best passing attack in the league doesn't sound like too good of a proposition to me.
I won't even go into the lack of pressure problems, or the fact that Manning gets the ball out in super sonic speed. The reality is that we're much more likely to be looking at a 7-4 team coming off of a 2 game losing streak on Sunday night, with the #1 seed long gone in the rearview mirror.
Lets forfeit.
Manning has put up 40 once in 5 games and that was with 4 Ints by RG III and VII. Why would 50 not be enough?
Why would we have to be perfect to shred them like Romo and Luck did?
