2014 Draft Prospect Thread

Right. Brandon Scherff, Iowa's LT. He's getting a lot of buzz right now and is on the cusp of the first round. He's 6'5" and 315 lb.

I want you to watch the play I've linked too. Watch the LT and not the player highlighted.

#86 C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa vs Ohio St '13 - YouTube

That is Mankins-esque.

Any thoughts on the BC tailback? Williams put up 339 rushing yards today and is on pace to reach 2,300 yards, the most since Kevin Smith of UCF in 2007.

I saw a little bit of him and wasn't blown away but it was admittedly only a little bit. Right now if we were looking at a bruiser, I think I'd rather Carlos Hyde. Mind you, he only got 250 yards (5 TDs though).

That kid is a beast. Did you see his clip hang clean 410 pounds?

Sign Arthur Jones
draft Scherff and Swanson
Profit

I like both and am starting to buy in to the bolded. Only issue is a TE (although I quite like Marcel Jensen at Fresno State). But Scherff and Swanson could give us an elite OL a couple of years down the line.

Solder - Scherff - Swanson - Cannon - Vollmer/other

Me likey.

Edit:

Watch how he collapses the side of the line on 4th and inches (Scherff the LT that is)

181 rushing yards per game against FBS teams when they know its coming; has me listening.

I've seen Hyde twice vs. Northwestern and Wisconsin. He looks like a pretty good, effort, power back. However, Big 10 RBs don't really have a good history though....

I really haven't looked at the RBs this year. Thing is, if we're drafting one it's almost certainly going to be day 3 if at all.

He's not likely to declare anyway. But with the amount of buzz who knows.

So many underclassmen that I like. It's a long wait until mid Jan.

Only problem is that BB wont put Cannon at G... So you'll have to wait a year more untill they draft a RT.
Would be Solder - Mankins - Swanson - Scherff - Volmer/Cannon.

Btw: Im wondering if we could put Trey Millard as RB/HB perm and NOT as FB.
Like a big RB ala Steven Jackson

BB probably won't draft Millard. Oklahoma.

And I like that OL a lot.

Would be a nice OL and I could easy see them pick him. Would be so BB like to draft another LT, the same or 1 year a head, when they resign a LT - This case Solder.

This is where I stand on the first two rounds right now (still people I haven't watched).

If we're lucky:

Ra'Shede Hageman
Stephon Tuitt
Louis Nix
Eric Ebron

(I'd 100% include Mack and Mosley here but think there's no chance of that).

I'd take with first:

Jace Amaro
Justin Gilbert
Bradley Roby

Not 100% Sure on 1st round value:

DaQuan Jones
Louchiez Purifoy
ASJ
Kyle Fuller
Darqueze Dennard
Travis Swanson

Luxury Picks worth considering:

Brandin Cooks
Jarvis Landry
Odell Beckham
Lamarcus Joyner
Ryan Shazier
Kyle Van Noy

That doesn't mean I've ruled out everyone else but those are the guys I like in the first two rounds right now.

So who's on your list?

Clowney injured. . . .

Amaro would be a really good fit to replace the prisoner at TE. He's not as fast but he has really good size, good hands, and he plays like a winner. And while they have plenty of needs it would take them back to the next level offensively if they had a slot TE to complement Gronkowski. Much as i love defense in the first round I think that piece could make more impact on the scoreboard.

woops wrong thread

Interesting tidbits from Tony Pauline:

Justin Glibert/CB/Oklahoma State: Gilbert is a player we’ve been high on for a while and a cornerback we graded as a second round pick before the season began. Sized well, he possesses next level ball skills and instincts. Gilbert shuts down opponents in man coverage but also affords potential in zone. During the Cowboys route over Texas the senior picked off two passes, one which he brought back 43 yards for a score. It was the second time this season he returned an interception for a score. Gilbert also adds the ability to impact games as a return specialist to his resume. The senior has all the makings to be a second day pick next May and eventually start in the NFL.

I disagree that he's a day two pick but am starting to be more confident that he's the best Talib-replacement in this draft.

ow do teams rank the signal callers? The top three on boards are Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, Teddy Bridewater of Louisville and TAMU’s Johnny Manziel, no surprise there. It then gets interesting as the next three names mentioned include Zach Mettenberger of LSU, Derek Carr from Fresno State and AJ McCarron of Alabama. No Brett Hundley and no Tajh Boyd.
