Report: NFL admits Jets got away with penalty

The only surprise is that the league admitted it after their coverup routine last week. The official and referee are incompetent or biased and should be fired.

Next I wanna see the NFL admit the Broncos have gotten away with 20 TDs and 80 receptions off illegal pick plays so far this season.

x 10 billion............

So are they going to let us replay that overtime? No, you say . . . well, then it's irrelevant. Hobbs is still waiting to replay the AFCCG when he was called for a phantom PI in the end zone that the Colts eventually capitalized on. Whatever.

I was done with this last week. Officials blow calls in favor and against the Patriots on a weekly basis. I'm not hung up on it.

But screwing this up in the first game it's ever called, almost halfway into the season, takes things to a whole new level, and that's the point I think a lot of us have been trying to make.

I don't disagree with you Deus it's more I'm just not hung up on it because of the Patriots play. Sure, the non call and the call both went against the Patriots but I prefer to focus on the team crapping the bed in the 2nd half ahead of both decisions by the officials.

Never been called...SHOULD have been called earlier in the game on THEM...NFL admits it in public...uh, yeah, I think it's reasonable to expect some push back by the fanbase...WTF is this, the WWE or what?

And, Deus, it's a fair point to make. I just don't see how it's relevant, though. We're not going to get to line up and play it again. It's a loss in the books and it will remain as such. The NFL admitting to it makes no difference to someone who only cares about wins and losses, and I imagine that's what most of us care about. I think we should all move on like the team presumably has done.

Why should we move on when the situation is still in the forefront enough that the NFL is just now getting around to admitting the screwup, though? It'll die down soon enough, but we're not the players, so any distraction issues are meaningless.

In 2007, the idea of luck and looking forward, etc... made superstitious sense, and it worked all the way up to the Super Bowl. In 2013, though, we're looking at a different situation.

I feel I answered your question within my post. It doesn't make a difference, that's why. Are the NFL powers that be going to change the L to a W? No, they're not. Bad calls happen in almost every game almost every week. One of the NBA refs admitted that they cheated (legitimately cheated) the Sacramento Kings when they played the Lakers back in 2003 (I believe) and the Lakers went on to win the championship that year. It's just the nature of sports. Once the clock reads 0:00 the game is over. There is no going back and changing anything.

I get that you're frustrated about it still. I just don't see the point in stewing over it now. It begins to feel like sour grapes after a while. Let it go and let's continue to look at the next opponent (even though we don't play for the team). I'm glad that the team hasn't remained fixated on it. Even Jones, the guy who committed the penalty, has seemingly let it go and he had another very good game today. I'm thankful for a short memory about certain things.

meh, it's over now. the only real positive is that it makes Rex Ryan look like an even bigger jackass for his comments earlier.

though, its possible the game never actually reaches OT if that is called.

still, 6-2.

Nothing we post here makes a difference so, using your logic, why post at all?

As for me, if you read my posts on the subject, you'll find that sour grapes isn't where I'm coming from.

The physical world is made up of mostly empty space...why even contemplate the...URK.................

We should move on simply because, as the Pats know, we screwed up. Regardless of whether it gets called before on the Jets, if we hadn't had done that despite being warned about it in emails sent to teams across the league, then we likely wouldn't have lost that game.

It was just sod's law that the one time they did call it was at the most pivotal point in the game and not consistent with how they'd called it all game.

Maybe we should worry about what we're doing and note getting penalised on stupid things ourselves than what other teams are doing and what the refs get wrong.

We got a break yesterday against the 'phins. Without the illegal batting call, that game could have been very different. It looked like it in real time, but on replay that should never have been called.

Swings in roundabouts.
