Seriously, can someone please explain to me the logic behind keeping Armond Armstead and Mark Harrison inactive?

From what I read today, both are not expected to back in practice?!?!? (per Bill Belichick's press conf.)

My guess, and I'm just shooting from the hip here, is that they're not well enough to practice yet.

The most obvious reason is that they are not yet medically cleared to practice.

Assuming same rules as PUP, once they are activated, they have a 3 week window to be make the roster or be cut, maybe the Pats are just trying to buy more time

Bingo. This isn't Pop Warner. There's a process involved here. Physicals. Paperwork. You can't just drop the guy on the field again.

I didn't expect anything from either of them when the season started, and I still don't now. If either one of them even suit up this season I'll be genuinely shocked.

the Pats are obviously trying to rush them back too soon, like they always do...

Yesterday when BB was asked about NFI activations he said something about, thats an issue the team will look into thursday...

Unless you're Bob Kraft I dunno why you'd be upset. Not like they are taking up a lot of cap room.

Armstead was with vereen last week on the practice field working on their rehabilitation. It was released on a report that I got from the patriots app. Through patriots.com.

Jay Ratliff just got cut by the Cowboys. With the Patriots defensive situation, I expect he'll at least get a phone call about his health...

Both players have been participating in film study and team meatings and rehab and conditioning programs... Harrison is probibly a result of too many rookie recievers being introduced into the system at the same time....although he has a high potential, he may be stalled till the latest possible moment to give the other rookie recievers maximum touches or stached on IR, because he will never clear waivers..He had a broken toe an was expected to be 100% in late May so he has to be healthy....Armstead on the other hand was treated for an infection and probibly ready to go with out much practice...He could be activated with out any notice...

He was cut for two reasons:

1. He didn't get along with Jerry Jones, not at all

2. DUI a few weeks after his teammate was killed in a drunk-driving accident.

Jerry Jones is friends with Kraft--wonder if that works into any possible discussion.

I would say that Ratliff, as a 3-4 NT, is exactly the kind of player the Patriots need right now.

wouldnt with the DUI , the moral police in foxboro be out in full force. will the pats touch him ?

They do not have to to be cut. They can be IRd.

It has only been one day since they can come back. Unless you are a starter or an impact back up, typically teams don't rush you into practice when you come off the PUP (or NFI list in this case).

Mark Harrison and Armond Armstead do not currently count against the 53 man roster because they are on the Non-Football Injury list. This was the first week that they could be activated to start practicing. Clearly, neither one is ready. What is the issue? Why are you confused?

Good catch. Either way, 3 week deadline to be on the active roster for the Patriots.

I don't think either one of these reasons are why he was cut myself, but we won't know for sure. I think if Jerry Jones was able to put up with a literal physical altercation last season, it couldn't have gotten much worse than that at this point in time.

The DUI wouldn't worry me personally, but the fact that he's targeting a return in 2014 would. That said, I think you're right that some would be bringing it up etc.

I'm confused because these two guys have huge potential, and given our shallow depth at DT and WR, I wonder why not unleash these two? (unless they're still hurting, but that's the not what I'm hearing).
