As for Romo, he threw for over 500 yards and 5 TDs yesterday. He played better than Manning. He's been arguably the second best quarterback in the league this year, with Rivers as the only other contender. Before you lay the blame on him, how about the defense that gave up 51 points total, including the lead that Romo had gotten them? If he's not 'the answer' for Dallas, I'm not sure what the question is.

Romo, for what it's worth, has more game-winning drives in the last three seasons than Tom Brady does. Brady's also been known to throw picks in pressure situations. I'm not saying that Romo is as good as Tom Brady, because he clearly isn't and never has been (though Romo's career deserves to be viewed substantially better than it has been), but the 'patented pick' thing is complete media narrative.

The thing with Romo that is crazy is that he clearly a capable QB at times great and I think he is actually the kind of QB who makes the players around him better at least the receivers as he has worked with a bunch of different WRs. But his penchant or patent for the bonehead play at the big moment is unpeccable and it is absolutely insane to compare this to TB who rarely ever makes these types of mistakes save for a few deep in the playoffs where obviously competition is different Romo does them all the time and in the early palyoffs as he doesnt make it deep.

The problem is the data doesn't back up this "unpeccable" narrative.

You're right, it is a lousy comparison, but you're wrong about why. The Patriots were down because Brady played like a steaming turd and the Cowboys were only tied because Romo had played an historically good game.

They're pretty great on offense, but their defense is borderline terrible. That may change when Von Miller comes back and it may not. Their secondary is brutal and that's not going to change with the aging Champ Bailey. Put your fastest guy on him and burn him deep. Offensively, this isn't going to last. They'll still be potent, but eventually the game will catch up to them and they'll be able to be slowed down. In the end, the guy that will cost them the most in the playoffs will be the guy that's driving the car right now... #18.

In Addition:

They lost Clady and are otherwise uninjured with their offensive skill players. We had a dinged forever AH and we lost Gronkowski (Edelman, Vereen) and went to AFC finals and scored about 540 points. Don't assume they'll remain uninjured.

Their defense is forgettable.

When they had a big lead Manning opted for the run play unless it was 3rd and long, and in one of the games he didn't even play most of the 4th quarter. It's just that their offense is so efficient, and they have a great special team as well. Defensively, they have some work to do, but they were a top 5 defensive team last year, so they have a pretty good chance to figure things out on that end as well.

Late in a game after his coach went for two after a TD early in the 3rd quarter. If they kick the extra point then its a TD game not a FG game. Lots of ifs but Romo played outstanding all game up until that point. Don't blame him for playing out of his mind and then having a brain fart late in the game. A game they wouldn't have had a chance in if Romo doesn't play a career type game.

Both circumstances were abnormal.

Bottom line Brady played like crap throughout most of Sunday and Romo played out of his skull. Not the same

2011 unbeaten Green Bay walks into KC who has no chance...KC wins 19-14....people are idiots and keep forgetting history. I don't understand why, but I know I don't want to be a part of the idiot machine and I tell my undefeated youth team week in and week out, especially when we play terrible teams, that if they walk on the field thinking this team can't beat us....we will lose...respect your opponent. I would agree that the Broncos do not run up the score - but that is only because their defense is really, really bad.

How they performed defensively doesn't necessarily carry over from one year to the next. The Bears, Steelers and Vikings were very good defensively a year ago too; not so much this year.

Some numbers for the Denver defense:

13 Red Zone TD allowed - most in the NFL

25 completions allowed per game - only five teams with more

Terrance Williams (who?) had 151 yards receiving against them; he had 131 yards in the first four games combined.

Getting Von Miller back from his suspension is not a cure-all. Dumervil is gone; Champ Bailey is injured and over the hill; Wesley Woodyard, Robert Ayers and Chris Harris may all be out with injuries; they're down to relying on Paris Lenon to play linebacker ... and now he's injured too.
