Ryan Clady possibly done for the year

. @RapSheet: As I said on ATL: Broncos LT Ryan Clady could miss a few weeks with a lisfranc sprain -- or more. There's a fear his season could be over.

That would be a massive loss for the Broncos, you hate to root for injuries but.....

...Poor Noodle arm?

Sucks for Clady though, that's his 2nd season ending surgery in the last few years isn't it?

Feel bad for the guy. Never worth rooting for an injury unless it's a scumbag like Vick or Pollard.

Yikes, that just sucks. Still remember Ty Law's lisfranc injury basically ending his career with the Pats, never something that you want to see.

Doesn't sound like it'll be season-ending though.

They'll probably give him the vareen treatment and he'll be back in november.

I thought that he missed a year after he tore his ACL playing basketball, but the article linked by the OP says that he's never missed a start as a pro.

He made it back in time, but he had a pretty rough season if I remember correctly.

It's definitely an injury that will require "weeks" to heal so he's out. But to add "maybe the season" to you're headline is outrageous

Agreed. His timetable depends on how much HGH he's willing to do. If he does what Suggs did he'll be back next week at 100%

Actually, I enjoy rooting for injuries, but only to key players on other contenders, and Bernard Pollard.

That's a tough break for them. After yesterday's game they made it seem like the injury was minor and nothing to worry about.

Either way, although whoever fills in for Clady is a obvious downgrade, I doubt they'll miss that much of a beat with Manning at the helm.

as long as Badsmell is omissioner, Peytie Crynning could sleepwalk into the Super Bowl this season.

Isn't Clady considered the best LT in the game???

This is from Cugel from BroncosForums.com, so obviously the credibility has some questions, but seems to be a regular and is just reporting a public radio broadcast he heard, not inside info or anything:

Will Carroll from Bleacher Report.com who is their medical reporter had a long talk on ESPN radio just a few minutes ago about the Lis Franc injury and recovery time.

There are apparently lots of bones and tendons in the foot and the length of time a player will miss depends on whether the small bones in the foot have been shattered or not and how much ligament damage there is. It's especially bad with linemen because they are BIG guys who put a ton of pressure on the foot bones and muscles.

Typically the Lis Franc injury results from some huge lineman stepping on your foot. If you weigh 330 lbs. and some other behemoth steps on your foot as well, that's something like 600 lbs. which is like driving a heavy battle tank over a small bridge not designed to bear the weight.

In Clady's case they'll do an MRI and take more X-rays before they decide if he needs surgery.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: Obviously with surgery he'll miss the entire season and be back next August or something.

BEST CASE SCENARIO: He'll miss about 10-12 games and be back before the playoffs.

But there's apparently zero chance he'll be back in 2 or 3 weeks.

Carroll said that after talking to his Broncos sources they are pessimistic about Clady's chances for this season. Apparently the damage is viewed as potentially more serious than just a mild strain.

Clady - Page 3

This seems to mesh with Mike Klis' report that the Broncos are very concerned, and it doesn't look good. For all the posters here that are certain Clady will be back this season, I think you are off-base. The initial report that he was out for a few weeks originated earlier in the day yesterday, when it was reported he'd be out "at least a few weeks." Later in the day, Klis broke the news that the injury is worse than expected, and while he confirmed it would be at least a few weeks, he brought up the possibility of short-term or season-ending IR. So in actuality, the idea that he will miss the season is the more current discussion, while the idea of a 3-week recovery is actually the report that has been dismissed. This isn't just a case of sensationalist headlines.

That being said, my uneducated stab-in-the-dark is that Clady goes on the short-term IR, as he is probably worth using the spot just in case of a miraculous recovery. Of course, if they go with surgery, his season is over.

Wait. Are we saying Pollard is getting a season injury too?

Wait until I get my popcorn.

Sucks for Clady. I wish him a (not too) speedy recovery.

outrageous? that's a overreaction I think.

When healthy, he's up there. But definitely not the best. Tough break for him (no pun intended).
