Talib absent from practice

Please be a day off. Or I hope mangold gets suspended the whole season with no pay. Really ticks me off players have to try and injure others in such a violent sport.

It wasn't the smartest play in the world, I think he was clearly trying to be cute and score a TD, but it's not his fault that someone decided to go low on him as a result.

What the hell is that in your sig photo? It looks like Dolph Lundgren's head photoshopped onto a woman's body.

Freaked me out too. Check the vid link underneath. Not that it is any better.

The Tom Brady version of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball". Click the YouTube link in his sig. It's actually pretty funny (if not very weird at the same time).

Either a defensive player of the game day off or he's injured.

Exactly. We won't know anything until the injury report, although if he's not there tomorrow coupled with the report that he wasn't in the locker room after the game---that will be concerning.

He didn't "risk injury" though, nor did he try to score a meaningless TD. He tried to keep the ball alive to run out the clock

He caught the ball with under a minute left and the Jets having no time outs, there's no benefit to keeping the ball alive at all.

Yeah, I don't buy into the whole "trying to run the clock out" thing, as much as we'd all like to believe that. I'm sure he was somewhat aware of the fact that the game was over no matter what, one way or the other.

The truth was likely that he was attempting to make a pick 6 TD return in a contract year.

He's a good football player talent-wise, but definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed in terms of sheer intelligence and decision making. That said, it doesn't excuse Mangold's actions either.

No point in speculating on what he could be dealing with or how long he could be out hypothetically until the team dishes out any details via official injury reports.

Until stated otherwise, I expect to see Talib on the field Sunday against his old team.

So... Amendola's groin could explode at any moment and end his season, Edelman could break in half on any given play, Gronkowski's back is a big question when he returns, Vereen broke his hand and is out until week 11, Slater just broke his wrist and could be out indefinitely, Dennard is dealing with an ankle issue and could be jailed or suspended, and Talib for all we know could have blown out his knee.

Injuries are way out of control. This team will be a pile of scrap by week 6. *Sarcasm* (Though really, it's ridiculous and I am concerned).

See it's stuff like this that screws with my sarcasm meter.

Holy crap, I'm going to have nightmares now.

The fact that nothing has been reported yet could be a good sign. Then again, we were just alerted that Slater is out 4-6 weeks. If Talib isn't practicing tomorrow I'm assuming the worst. His leg collapsed when Mangold slammed him.

If we lose Talib I don't know how this team is going anywhere.

Slater is now out for 4-6 weeks?

Earlier in the day there was some talk that he may be able to play this week, or at the worst miss a game or two.

Way to make up the 4-6 week time frame.

He may be right. I just saw it in another thread, they were going by a tweet from one of the beat writers.

Why wouldn't he run with it? And if he could get it into the end zone, why wouldn't he? he played it safe and stayed near the sideline and went out of his own volition when he had no running lanes.

What, did he hurt the Jesters' feelings? it's the freaking NFL - he started running on instinct, and what DB wouldn't? THen he pulled up and danced to the sideline, saw a little running room and darted for it, then just hopped out of bounds.

THEN the idiot Mangold dove into his knees, and even if Mangold started his dive BEFORE Talib went out, he went for the knees. A clear cheap shot all around, by a guy who's made a career of it.

Talib didn't do anything wrong, and I'll take the two picks, thanks.

Oh, haven't seen it.

I hadn't seen it either bud, that's why I was kind of surprised when I heard the 4-6 wk timeframe.

Looks like it may be worse than anyone originally thought. Either that or the tweet may be incorrect.

Not sure why you're trying to jump all over me, but the safe play is always for the player to immediately go down and end the game.

I would think that everyone would agree on that 100%.

As I said, it doesn't make what Mangold did any better, but any pee wee or high school football coach will tell you that you don't attempt to put yourself in front of what is best for the team.

Making a game saving INT to end the game is always going to call for going down, anyone will tell you that.

If he was trying to run out the clock, that's not much better considering the Jets had no timeouts. They could have run a full 2 minutes off the clock in that scenario, there was no benefit to running off that extra seven seconds other than saving Tom one more kneeldown.

And beyond the risk of injury (which could be argued is small on any one individual play) he risked a 2006 AFC Championship scenario where a Jets player gets a hand on the ball and strips it.

So to sum up, there were two bad things that could happen by not going down immediately, and absolutely nothing to gain.
