Practice Squad Taking Shape

Hopefully next year's wide receiver depth chart will be:
Amendola
Dobson
Thompkins
Boyce
Sims
Harrison

Sims and Harrison are such intriguing prospects. By next season, all 5 rookies will be in their 2nd year in this offense. Unless Edelman has a stellar, injury free season, this might be his last season on the Patriot's offense. Glad Sims will be coming back to NE.

I'm assuming one of the remaining spots will go to a QB, if only as an extra arm to save wear and tear on Brady and Mallett ...........and run the scout team offense...Matt Scott???(never mind, he'
s on JAX PS)

According to people here, every season since 2008 has been Edelman's last season. I hope you're not waiting under water without a snorkel...

Don't forget TJ Moe with a whole year rehabbing and learning the playbook.

2nd year WRs galore next TC.

I imagine one or more spots will wind up going to OL. A lot seem to be passing through with the waiver claims and so on.

You beat me to it. Just a few months ago TJ Moe was the shining crown of the rookie UDFA class when he was signed; the Pats gave him a bigger signing bonus to snag him than for any other player.

Next year will be a bit different for him between his losing a year, the emergence of Thompkins, and the three rookie WRs gaining a year's worth of experience over him.

As it stands right now I wouldn't mind both open PS spots go to offensive linemen.

I was on rte 146 in RI last Wednesday on my way to the beach in Narragansett and TJ pumped my gas for me. He's good at it.

Still no Bam Childress... I need more wine.

I think Quentin Sims being signed to the practice squad is my favorite move of the offseason thus far, I think he will find his way onto the active roster relatively quickly, we’re talking about a player that had success with Tebow as his quarterback, and maybe he is the next Thomas

Moe is a twitter junkie; he is filling a need as the official twitter spokesman of the New England Patriots.

Any word on all I do is Winn, Winn, Winn no matter what?

I believe Sims sitting there on the PS will remind Dobson every single day that if you're not improving you're losing ground...

That's one thrifty guy.

It's not every day that you see a guy that's making close to $300k picking up a (close to) minimum wage part time job.

Any word on all I do is Winn, Winn, Winn no matter what?

Am I the only one who didn't see much in Winn? I expected Sims to clear waivers and join the practice squad; Winn I didn't even predict a PS job for.

The guy was cut after minicamp with the Texans, then didn't see a preseason snap with the Patriots until game four, when he looked workmanlike and ordinary on his way to 3.9 ypc.

Winn fans, sell me! What am I missing?

Winn didn't do as much in the preseason than Bolden did. I see no reason to use a Practice Squad spot for a RB. I like how we've the Practice Squad so far.

Practice Squad
------
Davis LB
Davis S/ST
Forston DT
Green DB
Tarpinian LB/ST
OL 1 TBD
OL 2 TBD
QB or TE

For me, we have our "Practice Squad" running back on the roster. Bolden is a bit better than that, because of his special teams play, but not much.

6 WR's, none of whom seem likely to help on coverage units?

Never going to happen.

Yep, the position already has depth and youth. If anything, I'd be looking for a Faulk-type slippery 3rd down back for the practice squad, both as a development project and for the scout team. (Vereen's the smallest RB on the roster at 5'10+ and 210 lbs.)

I would not say I'm a fan of Winn, I just think it would be nice to a RB on the practice squad that possesses attributes of a 3rd down back given Vereen's durability issues in the past, and the release of Washington.

I firmly believe that the coaching staff holds Bolden in higher regard than many of us do, I don't think they consider him to be anything close to a practice squad type player.

As far as the squad as a whole I agree it has shaped up well thus far, although I would prefer to move on from Tarpinian given this is going to be his 3rd season on the practice squad and we still felt the need to bring in a guy like Chris White to fill a role he'd ideally be the perfect fit for.

Err...I agree. That's why I'm not interested in Winn, who does not possess those attributes. (Even his boosters call him a BJGE type.)
