What did the playcall signify on that last Tebow TD pass? (not the result the call)

  • It was an "FU" of sorts. "We're keeping Tebow on the roster."

    Votes: 29 27.1%
  • It was a farewell (he's cut). Let the kid go out on a high (possibly last play ever in NFL).

    Votes: 24 22.4%
  • Absolutely nothing. Nothing can be read into about Tebow's fate, anyway.

    Votes: 54 50.5%

I agree it changed nothing -- I think you're misreading the question. Does it reveal a mindset, that he is either on or off? If you believe (as I do) that his fate was determined before that play call, does that play call reveal any insight into that fate.

It's like Schroedinger's Tebow -- does it reveall a quantum of information about whether there's a Dead Tebow or Live Tebow inside the box?

No idea what it means. Pretty much bill being bill. I think he lets anyone out there at the time give it a go.

well played suddyfan, well played...a both at once interesting and meaningful poll...there is hope for you yet...

You Tebow fans better not start crying for Tebow to start the next game if Brady has a bad game one week..

What makes you think we are going to wait until Brady has a bad game ??

For those who have a broken sarcasm meter or are seriously lacking a sense of humor ............. The statement above was a JOKE.

Ben Volin pondering the options in this poll, and some others:

The naive fan in me says Belichick used the opportunity, with 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter, to give Tebow one last live repetition before he goes into football hibernation as the third-stringer. The cynic in me says Belichick was needling Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who brought the fourth quarter to a halt by calling three timeouts in the final minutes to get his team one last possession, only to cough it back to the Patriots.

And, well, the realist in me wonders if Belichick was giving Tebow one last chance to throw a touchdown pass before his NFL career winds down for good.

Let's go, Tebow Force!

Form feet and legs...
Form arms and body...
And I'll form the head!

Yep, I think it's safe to say that everyone is in agreement that it's time to start Tebow and trade Brady.

I don't know, Brady has one of the best success percentages in short-yardage QB keepers. We might keep him and design some short yardage packages for him.

Yeah, you may be right. Maybe BB can keep Brady and try him out at some other positions. Or maybe have him run the Wildcat. In reality though, there is no way in hell that Tebow should ever be taken off the field to give Brady a snap.

Could also be an attempt to showcase Tim for a new NFL suitor after he's cut. Who knows.

Personally I think it's BB being BB getting his team to play 60 minutes and nothing more. We'll see.

From that play I can conclude Brady will make the team. Wilfork's spot on the roster may be safe, too

OK so this is probably not the most exciting answer but I think this is just BB being a good guy to his players. In the end Tebow gets one more chance to show what he can do, especially because he was just (finally) starting to get some positive plays under his belt. It can only help him regardless of whether he makes the team or not.

My thought is that they have not decided on him yet and they wanted to give him the best chance regardless of their decision.

I didnt want any more passes to Sims though. I would have liked to have a better chance of signing him to the practice squad. Now everyone has seen him make more then a couple great plays

It means that McDaniels called a play, Sims got open, and Tebow hit him for a touchdown. It wasn't an "FU" and it wasn't a farewell. It was what it was. When considering whether or not Tebow will make the team, Belichick will look at his entire body of work under this coaching staff's supervision. Tebow hurt himself in the first few weeks, and helped himself immensely tonight. He had a really strong, good game when he probably needed to the most. What happens from here is up to the coaching staff in regard to whether or not they want to keep a third QB on the 53. The next week should be interesting.

He is a winnah! Matt Cassel and Ryan Mallet are not making that play. Neither is that other guy who used to be the back-up.

Tebow makes the team!!!

Well, we certainly know that Mallett isn't making that play since he threw what would have been a pick on the same play had Amukamara not landed with a hand out of bounds.

I don't know about that man. The Dobson pick was pretty ugly and there were like four sacks in a row. Granted the blocking was poor but for me, I didn't see him helping himself much.

You're correct, the play changes nothing and I don't think it reveals much, if anything, about Tim making the 53 as I think that's been obvious from the beginning.

The only thing I read into your poll is, rather than a FU, the play called was an opportunity for an exclamation mark for which Tim and Sims delivered. To whom it was directed is a good question.

In regards to another poster's observation about Tim's clipboard carrying skills; if he isn't good at it he better get good at it. The likelihood of Tim doing anything else during the regular season is low. It is also true that I hope and chant Tim has a chance to rub Wrecks' nose in it...but I can wait for that if necessary. Sometimes good things do come to those that wait.

Just sayin'.

Tebow's last play -- what does it mean?

less than a double rainbow

or better yet...

...it meant nothing, other than the creation of this thread/poll

I think it was actually door no. 1.

Well, we certainly know that Mallett isn't making that play since he threw what would have been a pick on the same play had Amukamara not landed with a hand out of bounds.

Tebow had an accidental touchdown where he threw the ball about four feet over Sims head and the defender fell down. The defender doesn't even have to make a play on the ball -- if he simply tackles Sims after the catch, the story of the play is that Sims made a great catch on a poorly-thrown ball.

Tebow had another touchdown when future Target and Enterprise employees were anticipating a kneel. It was a good throw, but it counts about the same as a 7-on-7 drill.

Tebow. I hope my daughter marries a non-celebrity version of him, but he is a horse***** quarterback. Bottom line is that Edelman is a better QB than him, and I'm willing to bet that with one month of practice, Vereen or Slater would be also.

It was a great throw, and would have been a clutch first down pass on third down. The YAC and touchdown were flukes.

That throw wasn't very high at all. Sims didn't even leave the ground.

It was an unusual play call. If you're simulating game conditions, you take a knee there. Because a fade could result in a pick 6 and you lose the game.

It was some kind of special circumstance for the call -- could be tweaking Coughlin or something.
