The real difference is wanting someone to make the team to help it or wanting someone to make the team just because you like them, which is the sign of someone who really doesn't give a sh.t about the team, just the player.

Guys like Legarrette Blount, Brandon Bolden, Julian Edelman, Jermaine Cunningham, Niko Koutavides, and Daniel Fells etc......, i.e. guys who could actually play and contribute something to the team are on the bubble and may end up on the street while a fumbling machine who can't pass to save his life sticks, and that is crap. the fact that you don't even know enough about this team to realize the quality of their 53rd player once again demonstrates that you really don't give one crap about this team, only Timmy. I will take the player who earns the job every time over the cult hero who can't play, and the fact that his most ardent supporters can't make any argument whatsoever as to what he has done to deserve a job speaks volumes on that issue.

There is a serious difference between being a fan of a team and a fan of a player, but that difference is clearly lost on you. I'm a patriots fan, and had Tebow come in here and shown he deserved to be on this team i would support it completely, you don't care about that you just want Timmy on a team, any team, and will root for any team that gives him a job.

You ignored that I talked about "bottom of the roster players who probably wouldn't contribute much THIS YEAR".

You are of the opinion that every single player on the 53 will get a good amount of playing time this season and are expected to contribute quite a bit. That's not the case. Some guys are there solely as insurance. Others are on the team not for what they can do this year, but so they can develop and be productive NEXT year.

Tebow to IR?

I have a real hard time believing BB would try to sell THAT to anybody....Tebow can't throw too well but he's a freakin' HORSE...I.R.?????????????....Goondell would start 5 witch hunts...nah, I think Tebow stays active and plays against the Jets on plays that maximize his physical tools inside the 5 yard line...it's almost TOO irresistible to ignore...

I voted no but, I'm still rooting for the kid to succeed. If not here then somewhere else.

Clark Kent just texted me and said he does too...

Hahaha, help the Pats by your standard? Give it up Dude. There is no way any of us can get inside BB's head. What BB thinks is best for the Pats is good enough for me. BB doesn't bat 1000 with his decision accuracy but he's so good at making good decisions for the Pats, I'm not going to question him...like so many are doing relative to the Pats signing Tim to begin with.

Oh well.

What's strange is a new Pats fan like me has more faith in the Pats HC (reminder: 3 freaking rings) than many long time Pats fans. Go figure.

No one asked anyone to get inside Belichick's head, people were simply asked whether tebow had shown enough to deserve a spot on the team, and Tebow fans take exception to that because they know he hasn't but want him on the team anyways. And I have complete faith in Belichick but that doesn't mean i agree with each and every decision he makes. And the truth is that you aren't a Patriots fan, you are a Tebow fan and go with him to whatever team he happens to be on, and will be a carolina fan, Argonaut fan, or LA Kiss fan when he ends up on one of those teams, so spare us the "Patriots Fan" bullsh.t because you clearly aren't one.

And BTW, if you don't like us talking about the Patriots then take a hike, because that's actually what we do here.

I was under the impression that the correct figure is FIVE rings...someone want to "remind" me? I'm just an old ,stupid Pats fan after all...

Yep, I am of the opinion that there are really good players who would help them this season on the bubble, and the fact that you don't understand the quality of the guys who are facing release just shows how little you know about tthis roster. This isn't your old team (last year), the Jets, this is a team that has gone to the Super Bowl 5 time in the last 11 years and the AFC championship game 7 times. Branden Bolden and Blount are fighting for roster spots. Daniel Fells and Jermaine Cunningham are both trying to win jobs on their respective units and may well end up on the street. The Patriots don't have an empty spot to host a horrible player, they will be cutting good players who can actually step in and contribute, Tebow can't, so if you want him to be on a team that does then you should want him in Carolina, Buffalo, back in New jersey, down in Carolina, or out west in oakland.

You actually just brought up a very good point. When the final cuts are made and the final 53 are announced, it's actually quite likely that some of the guys who are cut will be better at playing their positions than Ryan Mallett currently is at his position. Yet they get cut and Mallett stays.

Why ? Because he is still developing, and it's a question of depth at the position.

Once again we have these discussions all the time and no one has ever questioned the meaning of it, they are only doing so now because they know they can't make a case for Tebow but really really really want him on the team because they love Timmy. we question trades, draft picks, and roster projections all the time and make our cases for those we think would help them the most, yet when it comes to tebow that's not allowed because he is Timmy and doesn't have to actually earn anything, he simply gets it for being Timmy, or at least that's what his supporters believe should happen. And when you actually ask them what he has done to deserve they cry foul and claim that he is being hated on.

Tens of thousands of Patriot fans have watched Tebow at camp this summer, and many more have watched him play in the pre-season games, and not one has made a case that he has performed well at any time, yet they have the audacity to claim that because we haven't seen how he performs in MEETINGS (lmfao), we really don't have the full story. Well guess what, i will give him that one, I bet he does awesome in meetings, I'll bet he doesn't fall asleep, wear sunglasses, and keeps both feet on the floor the whole time, but even given that when you play as badly as he has since he got here then you don't deserve to make the team, and as much as his supporters think he should get a blue ribbon and a place on the team that really is the bottom line in pro sports, not how nice a guy you are. However i will give him that one as well, if making the team is about being a nice guy then I will make the argument that he really has shown that he is nice enough to be on the nice guy 53.

Anyone that thinks they can successfully make a case for Tim to anyone that trashes Tim is delusional. People should realize that anyone that takes the time to 'enlighten' others about facts concerning Tim and reminds others of FAIR comparisons of NFL QBs in Tim's regard are interested in having reasonable discussions about football.

TT fans watched him have success in high school, college and the nfl in his 1st season(for whatever reason) then he goes to the Jets and doesn't do much BUT after looking into the belly of that total sham of an organization and spending time on their miserable fan boards they probably wrote the whole season off. I can't blame them, it was a year spent in a toilet bowl. Woody, Rex, Tanny, Sparano? ahahahahahaha

They are here to see how things will shake out and want him to bring it in the 4th preseason game. Did he earn a spot? From what I've seen, no, but I haven't seen everything and he still has some time.

I like pocket passers personally but to each their own....

Edit: Point being there's nothing mystifying about TT fans wanting him to make the team following that trend.

That's called the Practice Squad, the 53 is for the guys who are exepcted to step in and play well when their number is called, and Tebow is not capable of doing that. I am really starting to wonder how long you have been a football fan and how much you actually know about the game, because statements like that one make me think you are new to it, don't know very much, and are really only interested because of timmy. You clearly think the Patriots have an active roster spot to waste on a guy who cannot play, and that simply isn't the case.

How do you know that?

More propaganda spewed on orders from "Space Mongo Brandi"?

I understand that guys are fighting for roster spots. I also understand, at least to a fair degree, depth at position and player development. Say that we had 15 RBs in camp and all of them were good. Guess what ? We wouldn't keep all of them.

This isn't some super duper secret. You can look right now in the forum and you'll see threads talking about which castoffs from other teams we might want to take a look at. Why ? Because every single year, good players end up being cut because they don't "fit" their team's roster for any number of reasons.

Again, you are STUCK in the belief that I want and expect Tebow to be on the Pats roster NO MATTER WHAT.

Apparently, it doesn't matter how many times I, or any other Tebow supporter, explain to you that this isn't the case.

This is just another example of someone tilting at windmills. YOU are convinced as to what YOU believe the "truth" to be and no one can dissuade YOU from the presumptions and conclusions that YOU have reached.

lmao, it is unfair to ask whether Tebow has earned a spot on the roster. All he had to do was play well for his supporters to point to it and make their case, he hasn't, they can't, so they try to make it a fairness issue. Boo hoo hoo, poor timmy, he is so maligned and misunderstood. the truth is that those receivers could have caught those passes if they had fallen down ten yards earlier or if they were 16 feet tall, and it's not timmy's fault that they didn't or aren't.

Some of the guys are placed on the practice squad, but you have to watch that because they can be poached and they don't get the same kind of experience.

Here's one for you, what was Ryan Mallett's expected contribution his first year with the Pats, when he was carried at QB3 ?

.

Actually that is the case. You cannot perform worse than Tebow has and yet you guys still want him on the roster, which makes it a case of "no matter what." You have also been taking the position that they have room to keep him and waste a roster spot on a guy who can't come in and play at his position when the truth is that will cost them a good player who can come in and play well at their position.
