Do you think Jake Bequette was kept last year because of what he would produce in 2012?
No and Tebow wouldn't be kept this year for what he'd produce this year as he'll likely be QB3.

Most 53rd guys don't contribute much( if it all) but since its Tebow it makes everybody a little crazy to the point where they wanted him cut after the first 3 and out he had in the pre season game.
1. No. So what.
2. He did last year.
3. For BB it probably would as he loves high character guys with versatility upside.
They probably won't.....but this is BB. He loves trick plays, doesn't he? The WHAT IF's are still out there if TT stays on the roster. Just sayin'.

They knew he was going to struggle so it doesn't matter? Are you kidding?
Then why would you keep him?
To see how he develops. And to see whether he can offer more offensively than just as a QB. That however is my own preference and there's not a lot of evidence that the Patriots brains trust thinks similarly.
So what? You brought up Bequette and his place on the roster. Bequette was beaten out by players who performed better, there's been zero reports it was because he couldn't learn the defense or needed the defense changed to revolve around him because that would be silly, right? Changing the defense to accommodate Jake Bequette, have plays run just for Jake Bequette. Jake Bequette being held to a lower standard than everybody else.
Hey! Maybe Jake Bequette can be some sort of hybrid QB/TE/HB/RB/DE/DT/SS/PR/Gunner/Kicker/Head Scout/Assistant Coach/Waterboy/Janitor/Chalkline Guy! That would justify a roster spot, wouldn't it. Plus I hear he's a super terrific guy who tries really, really hard! From now on I'll use all those positions to argue Bequette's spot on the 53 because it is now fact. Plus he's a great guy. Have I said that already? I like to vouch for the character and work ethic of someone I never met or worked with.

I think it is riduculous to use a roster spot to 'develop' a 26 year old QB who is in his 4th year and still lacks the skills that are most important to playing QB in the teams offense.
The reason to keep him would be that he could help you win this year if he had to play. Developmental spots should be reserved for young players with the basic skillset for the position and upside. Tebow simply is not that.
And I don't think it's ridiculous. It's possible BB doesn't either.
Lets not forget that his 2 previous teams needed developmental QBs and choose to let him go.
Denver cut him loose then drafted a QB, and the Jets were done with him with only Sanchez and McElroy on their roster.
Those teams really needed a QB to develop.
Both chose to devote a 2nd round draft pick they could have used elsewhere to fill that role.
And its possible he does.
So far:
Denver Broncos, NY Jets (and by action of not attempting to acquire him 29 other NFL teams) and me feel one way.
You feel the other.
BB has not commented.
True dat.
Question is whether he's one of the 53 most valuable guys on the Pats, from the team's point of view (not the fans'.)
That includes what he can do, what he maybe could do, and what he costs (including the roster spot.)
::shrug::
Hopefully for TebowNation he doesn't crap the bed so thoroughly that this particular wavefront collapses in a great big "no way" reality.
I've also consistently been on record saying he should be a FB. I'm intrigued. That's all.
Not exactly stunning...both of them.
TFB better not go down.
I thought Mallett was supposed to be so good?
I already know about Teblow...
Or perhaps a TE
I was just explaining the double slit experiment basics to my brother in law as I was also reading this post...how weird is that?
Nope. FB all the way (may have mentioned HB before but really meant a running FB). I don't think I've ever said he should or could be a TE.
